BRU summer 2008 : what to expect - new airlines/destinations

Post by itami »

Airlines plan operational changes and new projects long time ahead.
So maybe time has come to start thinking of what summer 2008 might bring for BRU.
I hope for (a lot more) long haul destinations and carriers discovering BRU as the very heart of Europe and a valuable alternative for the surrounding big airports.

Is that daily BRU-JFK on BA going to be code shared by SN?

Given the fact BA and SN seem to be close, it seems likely, and provided the flight is an afternoon flight rather than yet another morning flight, it would definitely give added value to the network....

When is DL switching from 767 to 757?
I though that was at the start of the winter season already, not next year...

How will codeshare partner AA (of both SN and BA) take it? AA is even a co-founder of oneworld together with BA...

Provided BA schedules its daily BRU-JFK in the late afternoon, I think both would welcome it and would even want to code share on it, since it would make a nice addition to their flight schedules.

Imagine what the possibility to offer a DOUBLE daily JFK flight could do to convince high yield pax to fly AA/SN/BA over any of the other 3 airlines on the route.

If connecting, I use UA in F or C (fully flat beds in F/C) to IAD, if JFK/YYZ/LAX is final destination I plan to use 9W - full flat beds and Dom Perignon in C with only 4 seats in one row. As a SN Platinum I am not recognised on either BA or AA; different story with *Alliance and just opened a JP account with 9W - they understand what high yield pax wants, SN does not !

By the way the British Airways flight between BRU and JFK is just rumor at this stage, denied on other forums.

According to a member of airliners.net he/she said that a reservation system (I think it's Sabre) is already showing the 757s flights BRU-JFK by DL from April

It will be indeed next summer, not this winter.

Hm, I am certainly not an experts in this technical things (so please, come on experts and correct me  ), but according to the information given by BA themselves on their website they only use their 757-200 for short-haul European routes ... Are the BA 757's capable to fly to JFK? BA states their long haul fleet is 767's and 747's ... only :?

New route requests HKG - NGO - JNB - CPY - BKK

Post by itami »

In list-of-new-and-likely-long-haul-brusse ... japan.html (March 2005) we saw requests for HKG - NGO - JNB - CPT - BKK among others. Have they been cancelled in the meantime or just postponed or replaced by other destinations ?

I have just discovered on wikipedia that the parent company of Hong Kong Airlines is...Hainan Airlines !

If we consider the fact that Hong Kong Airlines has ordered 20 Airbus A330-200 for longhaul flights, can we expect a nonstop BRU-HKG with the help of Hainan ?
