Belgian cargo start-up Cargo B Airlines will take delivery of its first Boeing 747 in late August.

Cargo B Airlines, led by former SN Brussels Airlines chairman Rob Kuijpers, is slated to begin operations this October. It is planning to serve destinations in the Middle and Far East, Africa and South America.

It is planning to launch with two Boeing 747s, with a third due to join its fleet on 1 April 2008.

A statement from Cargo B says: “We proudly present our first Boeing 747 freighter in its new livery, fresh from the paintshop in Paris. The first 747 for Cargo B Airlines is expected to arrive at Brussels Airport during the last week of August.”

The start-up has extended its management team to include cargo director Gerard ter Bruggen, formerly cargo manager for Dragonair and sales manager with Martinair.

Based at Brussels, ter Bruggen will oversee the airline’s day-to-day commercial activities.

Former Brussels Airlines flight operations VP Dirk Vrebos has also joined the Cargo B Airlines team as operations director. He has previously worked for Virgin Express, Sabena and Thomas Cook Airlines in various management and postholder roles.

Success, but pls not too much noise

Post by BrightCedars »

Long live Cargo B, but please - if the business goes right - consider upgrading the fleet asap as even 747-400F's are really noisy on take off.

I don't even want to think of 747-200F's. I still remember the good old Sabena DC-10's shacking part of Schaerbeek in the late hours of the day when I was a little boy.

Would night operations even be allowed for such noisy aircraft?

Again, I do wish success to the new airline, and lots of 330-200F & 777-200F!

-200/-300 no take-off/landing between 2300 and 0600
-400: no take-off between 2300-0600/landing allowed

md11 no restrictions

Does anyone know their ICAO or IATA code?

If so, then I might be able have a look and see
when the first flight will be sceduled.

Sabena used to have those 23:59 departures to Africa, scheduled with DC10 and later on also B742.

I just loved the pure sound of those nightly departures, not being spoiled by other sounds of car traffic and stuff. 8)

Another legendary operator with nightly 742s and 741s used to be Flying Tigers!

Am afraid Established02 is right. Although no B747-200 with Sabena in Belgian register, they did lease 3 airframes of Air France. F-BPVS and F-GCBI only for a couple of weeks in 1994 and 1995. But everybody should remember F-GCBB, operational in Sabena f/c between 1993-96. Here a pic of it.
