Vueling 2007

Post by airbuske »

After the Vueling 2006 topic we will create a new topic: Vueling 2007.

In 2006 Vueling went public. The introduction price was 30 euros,
today a share costs 44,40 euros so that's quiet good for Vueling.
Good for the financial position

Vueling will create a maintenaince base at Barcelona airport.
Good for 150 jobs. They will start with the construction at the end of 2007 /begin 2008. Vueling would like to work together with SR technics for the new base at El prat.

We can expect soon the annoucement of the new hub outside Spain.
We all expect that Paris CDG will be the new base.

Vueling is in talks with Airbus and Boeing for an order of 40 planes.

New routes:

Madrid - Venice
Madrid - Jerez de la frontera
Barcelona - Jerez de la frontera

The will increase the frequencies from some routes as from the end of March.

I think we can also expect som routes to/from Alicante.
Alicante is a very popular holiday destination.

How will the handle with the competition of Clickair at Barcelona and at Madrid there is competition from Easyjet and Ryanair.

But here in Spain is Vueling a strong brand , so ¡Go Vueling !
Best regards,

Airbuske

MADRID (AFX) - Vueling Airlines SA said its net loss widened to 10.776 mln eur in the year to December from losses of 10.581 mln a year earlier.
The airline had forecast a net loss of 7.1 mln eur for the year, while a group of four analysts polled by Thomson Financial had forecast a loss of 4.0-7.3 mln eur.
In a statement, Vueling said total revenues more than doubled to 235.5 mln eur from 112.6 mln, on a rise in EBITDAR to 28.01 mln from 1.63 mln.
Passenger growth for the low cost airline grew by 77.8 pct to 3.51 mln from 1.97 mln a year earlier, while revenues per passenger was unchanged year-on-year, a trend which the carrier sees maintained in 2007.
The airline opened 18 new routes in 2006, and now has a fleet of 16 Airbus A-320s. It expects to add another nine new planes in 2007, Vueling noted.
Operating costs excluding fleet rentals increased 86.9 pct to 207.5 mln eur in the full-year to December from a year earlier.
Vueling will hold a meeting with the press on results at 12.00 pm.

So Vueling is seeing a bigger loss then expected, wonder where this will lead too.

Operating costs are rising a lot more than the increase in pax numbers, not a good sign,it means you focus on the wrong destinations.
And at the same time they enter competition with easy on:
MXP-AMS
MXP-CDG
MXP-MAD and some domnestic routes from MAD.
2007 will become a crucial year for Vueling!
I hope for them there will be a topic Vueling in 2008, but not sure about it...

Even though this article is about Ryanair expanding at Granada, the image would seem to suggest a new Granada - Lisbon connection with Vueling.

Paris CDG will be the new Vueling base

Vueling will base 3 A320's and starts service to Amsterdam ( 2 daily flights ), Milan MXP and Sevilla.
Vueling is already flying from Paris CDG to Barcelona, Madrid and Valencia.

They will increase the frequencies on BCN - CDG and MAD -CDG.
It is possible that they will launch soon new destinations like ALC, SCQ, BIO,...

Second base in Italy?

The also would like to open a second base outside Spain.
The would choose for Rome or Milan XP.
BUt that won't be before 2008 or 2009.

That's why they cancelled their MAD - GRX service.
They have a shortage of slots and they prefer the Baeleares above Granada.

Hi,

booked VY AMS-CDG 22-25jun (during the Airshow), but VY decided to cancel the eveningflight. Therefore I will return very early the 26th.

AMS-CDG is now 1x daily instead of 2x.

Regards, Jeroen

Bookings could be better on CDG -AMS .

And the flights to Athens are now already a succes
but that's not really a surprise with only Iberia on
BCN - ATH and fares from 579 € and more.
From Madrid to Athens you pay 600 € and more.
(even if you book a lot in advance )
So very good Vueling!

Current Vueling Destinations Amsterdam:

Post by boeing767 »

Amsterdam - Paris De Gaulle
Amsterdam - Barcelona
Amsterdam - Madrid
Amsterdam - Valencia
Amsterdam - Alicante
Amsterdam - Malaga

I've heard some rumours that AMS could be the fourth base with as new destinations Milan, Ibiza and Palma de Mallorca? Anyone who knows if this is true?

For the moment no plans for creating a 4th base.

Vueling would like to expand at it's Barcelona base but will have to
wait until the opening of the new south terminal and the delivery of the new A320's. For the moment there are no good slots available at Barcelona.

Vueling would like also expand from Madrid.
As you know the lastest new routes are : Pisa , Napels and Athens
as earlier reported.

The would like to open new routes from Spain to The Netherlands, France, Italy and North Africa.
Within 3 year they would like to transport 8 a 9 million people.
This year they will transport 2,5 million passengers.

Airbuske

Why are they so hesitant to open more destinations in Germany and France ?
NUE-BCN
NUE-MAD
MPL-MAD
MRS-MAD
HAJ-MAD
would fit nicely in their network-most of those flights are currently not served..
