That's right, she just landed and is now sitting outside of hangar 41 (Sabena technics).

Congratulations (SN) Brussels Airlines!

Post by BrightCedars »

Hopefully this piece of news is genuine and I can then only congratulate (SN) Brussels Airlines for this move. Let's hope a few more big birds will follow in the coming months/years.

By the way, what would be the baptism name for this bird? And what are the names of the existing fleet, if any?

Oh this news is genuine, no worries.

The plane still has the full Air Madrid livery, so no photo opportunities to get a view of the new brussels airlines livery on an A330-300.

As far as I know, the plane won't be named, it will just have a letter on the nose (the last letter of its immatriculation). No idea what that will be, but most likely something from the OO-SF. series.

And why not start a new numbering for a new airline, something like OO-BAA?

What are the engines on this bird, are they the same as the other 3?

Goodafternoon,
Did some research on Air Madrid and their A330. It looks like SN Technics will have quit some work to prepare this aircraft.

No, this one has got PW4000's as the other 3 have GE CF-6 engines. SNBA had the opportunity of getting one of 3 ex-Austrian A330 with CF-6's which were younger (but at higher leasingrate), but eventually they hesitated too long and TAP snatched those airframes from under their nose. Now SNBA has a 4th A330, but it's dufferent from the other three ... a pitty !

How long does it usually take before an aircraft enters service? What has to be done to the aircraft? What was the cabin lay-out like?
Greetings

Austrian's A330s also have PW4000s, not CF-6s. Plus they're -200s.

Hello

Ooh goody , nice they have a new A330 , I waited for it for a long time but if I see the comments about this plane I think "oh god why DID they really had to buy THIS wreck?". Furthermore it's only making the situation more complicatated that they HAVE to choose for a A330 with other engines than the GE's on the other 3 planes. Anyway , I hope the SN Tecnicians will be just as joyfully about it as the 'Brussels Airlines'-top :D

I just hope we don't get too much situations like with OO-TUC , it could mean bad commercial for the new airline.

Crossing my fingers.

Best regards: Yannick ;)

The engines will not be a too terrible burden I guess...

Look at FQ, their newest acquired plane (OO-TCN) also has other engines than the rest of the fleet.

Also note that the plane flew for more than 10 years with LTU, quite a reliable airline in terms of maintenance. So let's hope the condition of the plane hasn't become too terrible in 17 months of service with Air Madrid.

Question in the margen : Who did the maintenance on Air Madrid's A330's ?

Regards, Robin Bamps.

OS has never operated any A332 with GE engines but well P&W. Like TAP.
Also bear in mind that it only flew 6 months for NM.

It's great to see the 4th A330 in BRU !!
about this plane I think "oh god why DID they really had to buy THIS wreck?".
I don't get it!! People complain when SN doesn't aquire any aircraft and when they finally manage to get one A330, the same people complain again

As others wrote, the plane wasn't operated for a long period by Air Madrid. From a maintenance point of view I don't think it'll be a second OO-TUC. And the inside will be totally refurbished...

And why should it be a problem for the engines ? It's Sabena Technics which is doing the maintenance !! So why should it be a problem for SN to have one of the 4 aircraft with a different type of engine ? AFAIK the crew don't need a specific rating for the engine types.....

Chris
