Badly I imagine, I've asked myself the same question. The problem seems to me to have been that Smartwings never really made a concerted effort to succeed in the low-cost market, and if you want to make it, I think you need to work hard. Little investment, very frequent delays and plenty of cancellations seem to be the norm.
I, for example, booked a flight from BRU-PRG return on Smartwings when they announced they'd launch this route, but it was soon cancelled. If they can't succeed in operating a relatively short route (700km), four or five times a week, where there was no other low-cost competition (only SNBA and CSA) how the hell can they succeed?
Still I'm a big SkyEurope fan and delighted they're expanding from Brussels as I'm sure many more of you will experience the pleasure I enjoy every week or two flying to Krakow!
