Didn't want to start a new thread for this titbit of info relating to Charleroi, but the website of Romanian airline BLUE AIR has an animation on their route map which shows a new route from Bucharest to Charleroi!
(Nothing in the booking engine yet though, nor on the airports' websites.)
Romania LCC Blue Air to Charleroi soon?

Re: Bucharest
Interesting news, though. I thus created a new thread for you!Charlie Roy wrote:Didn't want to start a new thread for this titbit of info relating to Charleroi

It is indeed highly probable.
I called Blue Air at the end of July to ask them when they would open the Maastricht route. The employee told me they were dropping that route for a new one to Brussels via Koln.
I guess Brussels meant Charleroi as Blue Air uses low cost airports (Beauvais instead of Paris, but Barcelona instead of Girona ).
This is good news anyways! I have family in Romania so I use Blue Air.

Makes perfect sense as Romania will join the EU next year (provided it satisfies demands for democratic and market reforms).
That means families, Erasmus students, tourists will be making many more journeys to Belgium whilst business travellers and EU employees will probably fly to Romania from BRU with TAROM.

that's correct... Its strange they are leaving MST, because the aircraft were always full...I called Blue Air at the end of July to ask them when they would open the Maastricht route. The employee told me they were dropping that route for a new one to Brussels via Koln.
for the record, Blue Air uses three B737, YR-BAA, YR-BAB, YR-BAC... but they also use Hemus Air BAe146's from time to time

Well I took it several times and it was far from full... maybe in the last months the load factor increased ?maaspotter wrote:that's correct... It's Baneasa which is very close to the the centre and to Otopeni as well (I know no other country where the two airports are at the right of the same road, only 6km apart).JAT_boy_BEG wrote:Is this from Otopeni or Baneasa?
Any news if Blue Air will visit any of their western neighbours anytime soon?
Baneasa hosts Myair, Skyeurope and Wizzair also.
