Azerbaijan Airlines to drop some destinations

Post by globetrotter »

Due to rising fuel costs the airline will stop service to Afghanistan(Kabul), Pakistan(Karachi), India(Delhi), China(Urumqi) and Syria(Aleppo).

India and Pakistan were resumed last year after a period of suspension.

A fact about real economics. Azerbedjan is a major oil producing country, with the oil fields of Baku.
But it doesn't mean its national airline has cheap fuel.
So, referring to some remarks about UAE airlines e.g. the succes of Emirates, I think this is another sign that it doesn't count.

They have added Italy(Milan) to their network on the other hand, one of three European cities they serve, London and Paris being the others.

As someone who potentially has a little more knowledge on Azerbaijan, I can say fuel is cheap. Oil literally comes out of the ground in certian areas. Ask CargoLux crews how much fuel is!

Emirates

having crude oil in the soil doesn't mean you have aircraft fuel.
