BRU in 2006: what to expect: airlines, routes, news

Post by Atlantis »

Next week we are the first week of December, the end of the year is coming.

It's maybe not a bad thought to start a topic around 2006 and what to expect on our airport BRU. Everything is welcome: new airlines, new aircrafts, new routes, news, etc.

I can start with some new airlines who will serve BRU in their schedule.

 SkyEurope, new flights from 26 March 2006 to Krakow

 Air Madrid, they announced to fly to BRU as a feeder flight for their own transatlantic flights to south America. They want to use A320. Possible first flight spring 2006.

 Jet Airways, what to expect from this airline about the route BOM-BRU-EWR. Aircrafts are not available for the moment but they have a new livery in 2006 and 2007. I have my doubt's if they will go further with this project.

BRU will open also a new car park for 2400 vehicles.

Will BRU reach the cape of 700.000 tons of cargo and what about the pax figures; 17.000.000 pax? I'm sure 700.000 is a real figure. This year the total cargo will be higher the topyear 2000.

I happened to talk to a sales guy from Jet Airways last week at the World Travel Market (Excel, London). He told me that Jet Airways might still be able to start up the mentioned service before the end of ... 2005. He admitted that they would probably be too late to get the Xmas bookings, but nevertheless this person was talking as if they would be starting up the service within several weeks, rather than within several months. I understood from him that having an aircraft was not really an issue.

they have a new livery in 2006 and 2007.
??? Never heard abourt them changing their livery? And what's the relevance of their livery to this topic?

Anyway, bmi regional will start flights to London Luton, 3 times daily.

I believe Atlantis is suggesting the delivery of new aircraft for Jet Airways in 2006 and 2007.

Actually changing livery might not be a bad idea.
Their colours do look kind of dull and their logo is not so remarkable either.

Hi all,

Did I not read somewhere (sorry too long ago) that

SNBA will restart seasonal services to

Naples, St-Petersburg (just like the two previous summer seasons)

Offer Bari and Cork again after a first successful year

Offer Lourdes, Genoa and Dubrovnik

Maybe Ajaccio

Even if only seasonal services, this is a good move ... !

:D

Air Madrid signed an agreement with SNBA for the flights between BRU and MAD. SNBA will be the feeder and not Air Madrid itselfs. It will be no code share agreement.

They will offer a wide number of destinations in South America from BRU via MAD.

The first 4 destinations will be flown by Jetairfly (see post https://www.aviation24.be/postt14367.html )

The Cape Verde flights for Jetair are operated by TAP, ex Brussels, via Lisbon

Is there any news about the "possible" new routes to Miami or Boston? Did someone have news about that, because months ago there was "something" about this.

I'm wondered that Dusseldorf is not in the timetable of BRU. It's nevertheless a very good destination to fly and is business related, there is a high demand for a direct flight between BRU and DUS.

Why is SNBA not flying on that route?

Whats the train service like between the two cities?

There is no train connection between the two cities. The only cities in Germany who are served from Belgium are Köln, Hamburg, Frankfurt, Munchen, Berlin. So, in that way no competition at all.

I know that business people are asking for that connection. Sabena was serving that destination years ago with different types of aircrafts.
