First A330 for KLM
The first of 7, and should be PH-AOA with a delivery in August, no idea what the name will be, presumably thats whats covered under the flightdeck windows.
Also note the Air France-KLM sticker up front.

As I have stated here (you beat me by 2 minutes sab319) , I think that the aircraft just looks soooooo gorgeous, it could be the beautiful KLM livery on the great A332, it could be that the aircraft is so new and shiny. The aircraft looks sooo modern and stylish, so does the Air France - KLM logo. I absolutely love the aircraft, and can't wait to see it here in Amsterdam!
Maybe we should do a Luchtzak meeting at AMS when the first KLM A332 arrives there?

Hello
Nice nice nice!!! Really cool!!!!
Was already thinking they cancelled the plan of buying them...in mean wile I always taught that NWA bought those 330's instead of KLM did , but than 300's instead of 200's. Because....I've read it once a whooooole wile ago (maybe 2 years ago or longer ago) , but now that they are fused with AF they can't go around it to but French planes so....332's , Really nice! Am glad they finally are there.
Oh boy , what a sight it will be!!!
Best regards: Yannick

Oh boy oh boy you certainly have the record for the most original messages on this forum......
Bruspotter, you may think what you want but next time please structure your reply a little bit and please make sure other members will be able to understand your reply the first time they read it.
And by the way KL decided to go for the A330 before they merged with AF and Airbus isn't FRENCH but EUROPEAN !!!

Actually, Airbus is 24% french (shareholders). For the record, Embraer is 16,5% french (shareholders).Bruspotter wrote:...but now that they are fused with AF they can't go around it to but French planes...
I couln't be more agree with this!Avro wrote:And by the way KL decided to go for the A330 before they merged with AF and Airbus isn't FRENCH but EUROPEAN !!!
Money speaking, you forgot the spanishes. About working for Airbus, the italians are here, either the dutches (Fokker) and many others...V-Bird wrote:Its French, German and Britisch..................... european????? for that kind of money they could have bought some nice additional b777-200. Airbus and The Netherlands...... it will never merged!

AirFrance has a longhaul fleet mainly consitent of Boeing aircraft... 772/773/747.Bruspotter wrote: but now that they are fused with AF they can't go around it to but French planes so....332's
The a343 has one foot out the door, only the a332's have their (logical) place in the AF fleet.
AF does not buy french, it buys whatever suits their needs best...

I know we are going fftopic: here but I feel the need to explain exactly why AF ordered theirs first 777s:Buzz wrote:AF does not buy french, it buys whatever suits their needs best...
The full story be be found here.The past commitments of the French carrier played an important role regarding its fleet strategy, and to some extend in convincing politics. After seven years of postponed and cancelled orders caused by a disastrous financial situation, it was about time to resume more conventional relations as the airline was recovering and re-building momentum. In the end, the airline still had a US$874 million deposit which would be lost if it did not purchase any Boeing airplane.
Thanks to Alain Mengus for the good job he did. Unfortunately enough, the site doesn't seem to be updated these days .
Of course, no matter these US$874 millions, AF made a wise choice by ordering B777-200ERs over A340-300Es.

Are the A330s ment to replace the MD-11s, in time?
So next time I'll fly to Aruba it will probably be in an A330.
On which destinations will KLM use them?

Hum.. and what about more B777-200ERs?MD-11 wrote:Are the A330s ment to replace the MD-11s, in time?
KLM:
- 10 Boeing B777-200ER (327 seats)
- 10 MDD MD-11 P (282 seats)
- xx Airbus A330-200 (-ukn- seats)
- 11 Boeing B767-300ER (220 seats)
AF:
- 25 Boeing B777-200ER (270 seats: 12/56/202 NEW 250: 8/49/193)
- 16 Airbus A330-200 (211 seats: 6/42/163 NEW 219: 40/179)
About the KL A330s, we can expect something around 220 seats, with max 250 seats. If someone have the exats number of KLM for each class, it would be great!
Thanks in advance.

Not sure if this is complete information:MD-11 wrote:Are the A330s ment to replace the MD-11s, in time?

KLM, A332 introduction:
* Bahrain/Abu Dhabi - Daily Airbus A330-200 from 19 Feb. 2006
* Washington - from 30 Oct. daily Airbus A330-200
* Newark - from 30 Oct. daily Airbus A330-200
* Accra - Airbus A330-200 from 4 Dec. 2005 until 18 Feb. 2006, thereafter again with MD11
By the way, the MD-11's will stay until 2012 in the KLM fleet. And I wonder, the A332 would be a bit small to replace the big MD-11. The current B772 replaced the old B747's, so maybe a second batch of B772 will (start to) replace KLM's MD-11's. But I think that will take a while from now.
First of all, 15 B767's need to be replaced, and then it will be the MD-11's turn. Compared with what they have ordered, 7 A332's and 12 B772's (to replace the B747 classics) it will take a while untill they will dissapear. Wonder when (or if KLM has already) ordered some aircraft as a replacement for the rest of the B767's and MD11's?

If my memory serves me correctly, the initial KL order was 6 + 18 more A330 on option. About the 12 777s, 2 of them has been ordered recently (leasing).B744skipper wrote:Wonder when (or if KLM has already) ordered some aircraft as a replacement for the rest of the B767's and MD11's?
BTW, how do you come with 15 B767s?

I think my memory stopped serving me correctly for a moment there.
