Emirates to Brussels?

Post by kestral_flyer »

Seems the expanding UAE carrier is going all over Europe, and I was wondering if Emirates would come to Brussels. Its opened new routes all over Europe and the world,to places where you would think its not going to be profitable.

Seems good also 9W is routing Mumbai - Brussels -New York as well.
Also any new long haul carriers into BRU?
Where did ETIHAD go?

I would want Air Mauritius back with an A34E,but you cant have it all!!

It would be nice to see Emirates at EBBR. But both feet on the ground. On their side are some new destinations indicated. For Brussels, I think it could be within a few years.

For the moment they have one destination in the US, New York, it could be good competition between Jet Airways and Emirates.

BRU unfortanatelly is not licensed to recieve this categorie of aircraft, so we will not soon see an A380 at BRU. Same for B747-8. There they were only given an exception by Civil Aviation for the freighter version.

So Emirates will come with the B777. Probably as of September.

Travel Magazine online:

"...Multiple sources have confirmed they will start up Dubai, daily, 777-200, after our summer... They have confirmed their slot requests... Earlier startup isn't possible because of tarmac works at Dubai..."

Strange, didn't EK say a few months ago they weren't interested in BRU , citing too much competition from the likes of QR, EY and TG? Though I never believed they were actually worried about competing with them.

There's going to be a lot of (over)capacity on Asian bound routes from BRU, for sure.
No idea if the market is that big to support AND emirates AND Qatar AND a 2 times daily Etihad flight, but we will soon find out!

EY is not flying twice daily, but "only" 8 times a week. On top: if you see how many people still fly to Asia via LHR, AMS, FRA and CDG, there is for sure room for more capacity out of BRU. Just count the daily amount of Belgians flying with EK via DUS or AMS or CDG that in future could fly ex BRU.

Okay, so only 2 times daily once a week then! :)
My mistake.
Still.

No overcapacity at all, with the great amount of connection capabilities at DXB, and the reasonable price they offer, this is fantastic news.

Agree, although I doubt Etihad and Qatar do. :)

Emirates is said to have confirmed the use of its slots at BRU for after the summer.
Daily flights operated by B777-200.
Creates some nervosity at LH/BA/KL and QR/Etihad.
