SLR EBBR-GCLP

Post by MD-11 »

In June my aunt and uncle flew with SLR's B737-800 OO-VAS to Las Palmas ( Gran Canaria ). I gave here 2 drawings of this plane and the flightdeck for the flightcrew and a paper to fill in some info.
The crew did ( thanx capt. Lavaert ) and here are the results

* RWY in EBBR: 25R IAS: 253knots
* SID: Chievres 6C TAS: 450knots
* Zero fuel weight: 59.9tons GS: 436knots
* TOW: 74.2tons Mach: 0.780
* V1: 157 knots Wind: 146°/37knots
* Vr: 160 knots EGT: 663°/666°
* V2: 164 knots Fuel flow: 1.270/1.250kgs/hr
* FL: 37000feet RWY in GCLP: 03L
STAR: Terto 1C
Vref: 145knots

In August I'm making the same flight but with Thomas Cook.
I will also give such paper to the flightcrew, I like to keep this info also in my vacation photo album. 8)

MD-11,

With the information of both, you can maybe calculate which of both; the A320 or the B738 is the best aircraft in fuel consumption. Can you put this information too on Luchtzak?

@Liebensd: I'll do so if the pilots fill in the paper I'll give but I don't think that will be a problem. But you shall have to be patient. I'm leaving on August 13th.
In the mean time I saw that I forgot the SLR 738's landing weight in LPA. It was 63.2tons so starting with 74.2tons that gives a consumption of 11tons.
Off course I don't know the number of PAX with SLR. But I do remember that last year with Thomas Cook ( EBBR-LEAL ) our TOW was 77tons ( fully booked ).

Okay, I've got the tech info from my Thomas Cook flight to Las Palmas.
But we made a stop in Fuerteventura.
I don't know if SLR made a stop in FUE.

RWY in EBBR: 25R SID: CIV 6D Zero fuel weight: 59 tons

TOW: 73 tons V1: 153 Vr: 153 V2: 155

IAS: 253 TAS: 450 GS: 473 Mach: 0.78 FL: 370
So mach speed and FL were also the same
Fuel consumption: 2670 kgs/hr, a bit more than SLR's 738
But on landing in GCLP with 62 tons we used 11 tons, the same as SLR's 738 but with a stop in FUE. Landingspeed was 133 knots.
Plane was OO-TCB
On the returnflight ( non-stop ) we flew the brand new OO-TCH and used 9 tons of fuel on a 3 hours 40 min flight which arrived EBBR 50 min early.

MD-11,

So, Thomas Cook's A320 used 2 tons of fuel less than the B738 of Sobelair. Or do I forget something, like the numer of pax?

The 9 tons of fuel was on the returnflight where we had a tailwind of 55 knots. On both FQ flights all seats were filled. I don't know the number of pax on the SLR flight.
When we flew to GCLP we used also 11 tons but with a stop in Fuerteventura. I asked my aunt and she told me that they flew non-stop to GCLP. So the weird thing is that the A 320 used a little bit more fuel in flight ( kgs/hr ) than the 738 but ( with a stop in FUE ) on arrival in GCLP both planes used 11 tons. Who can explain this?
