Brussels-Porto on Ryanair B737-800 flight FR2928

Post by sn26567 »

I have reported the return flight on a Brussels Airlines A320 elsewhere. Here is thus the outbound flight.

I arrived at Brussels Airport 1 hour 15 minutes ahead of the flight and I had no difficulty being at the gate well on time, walking swiftly through security at the entrance of the airport and in the Connector.

As usual, I was among the last ones to board the aircraft from Gate A33.

Flight: Ryanair FR2928
Date : 29 September 2016
Aircraft: Boeing 737-800 EI-FRR (Sky Interior)
From-To: Brussels - Porto (BRU-OPO)
Seat: 30F
Scheduled/Effective Time of Departure: 06:35/06:42 (GMT+2)
Scheduled/Effective Time of Arrival: 08:05/08:05 (GMT+1)
Scheduled/Effective Duration of the flight: 2 hr 30 min/2 hr 23 min

This recent Boeing has the Sky Interior, with the blue mood light at departure. But the new thin seats are quite hard (which I felt at the end of the trip). The former dominant bright yellow colour has almost disappeared.

Slow boarding, but friendly welcome by a stewardess at the rear door. Push-back was slightly late. Take-off from the usual 25R runway after taxiing near the tower in the dark.

Load factor close to 98%. As I did not have breakfast yet (too early in the morning), I selected buying on board: an orange juice, a chocolate croissant which was served hot, and the delicious Lavazza coffee. At sunrise, the mood lighting turned orange/pink.

The flight continued without problems at FL370 until Porto, where the plane flew and turned over the city before heading to the airport, giving the opportunity for a few magnificent views of the city and the River Douro.

No jet bridges for Ryanair (like for legacy airlines). I was quickly through the arrival building.

I had booked a shuttle to the city through Ryanair. That was a mistake: there is only one every hour. I would have been much quicker taking the Metro!

Over all, a good flight, but the new seats are really too hard, even when compared to the Recaro seats of Brussels Airlines.
