A380 BRU to NYC?

Post by thecryof »

Greetings,

Does any airline have service to NYC airports JFK/EWR with the A380? I've been looking and it seems the A330 is the more popular for this distance. I'd love to experience a flight in this bird.

Regards

Hell will freeze over before you will see an A380 operating commercially out of BRU

However, you can book Air France via CDG to New York if you really want to fly an A380

Excellent, thanks for you reply. This could work as long as Belgium doesn't have a train strike that day. Ugh..

Best solution is to book BRU-JFK on the air france website. A lot of times it's cheaper then CDG-JFK (I know it's crazy) but it includes the BRU-CDG in the tickets. I'm not sure if that would be a flight or a train journey.

Or you can fly BRU - FRA - JFK.
LH is also using an Airbus 380 on FRA - JFK.

I thought Heathrow would have been an option too, but British Airways seems to be only a mixture of 747 and 777 to JFK.

Depending your preference, its thus going to have to be either CDG or FRA: if you're scared of railway strikes like you say, maybe best to go to Germany then.

The added benefit of Lufthansa is that you're going to be able to more easily redeem the miles you'll earn on your transatlantic trip, as Brussels Airlines is a M&M member.

Plenty of choices!

I honestly wouldn't see the rationale behind running an A380 between BRU and NYC point to point.
I could understand eg SQ to route SIN-BRU-NYC iso SIN-FRA-NYC or a Gulf A380 operator if that can ever make sense for any of them.
No one on the NYC side would run the route and as far as the BRU side is concerned, SN will try to build on frequency while the unprobable any new player wouldn't start with the toughest plane to fill either.
