BRU-ATH-BRU

Post by flip330 »

On the 6th of July, we were going to Athens , for a roundtrip in Greece . Our group consisted of 18 pupils, 2 teachers and 1 guide.

BRU-ATH OA 146
A/C REG : SX-BMD
ETD 12.30LT
ATD 16.55LT

We left the railway station of Bilzen around 8.52. At about 9.15 train broke down. It would take half an hour to get is repaired, so teachers decided to take another one. This one , the BOEMEL , left on time, and we were able to take the brussels airport express train on time. Once arrived at BRU, we headed to the check-inn, were the friendly lady told us that the plane didn't left Athens already. They were short on staff, so it could still take some hours. We received a coupon of 8 euros for compensation . At about 16.10 lt. SX-BMD arrived at position 157 .Some 4 hours after ETA. loadfactor was 100% in Economyclass and 60% in Businessclass. I had seat 7F, which was quite good. Lots, and lots of legroom, comfy seats, and taste meals. except for the delay, they made a good impression on me :D :D Visited the cockpit , but they were quite busy . Those 737 cockpits are rather small, if you compare them with Airbus cockpits. At 21.00 LT the captain putted us on the ground at the new Elephterios venizolou airport, which is, not as nice as Brussels airport.

ATH-BRU OA 147

A/C Reg : SX-BKI ????
ETD : 16.30LT
ATD: 17.00 LT

eleven days later, on the 16th of July, we headed back to brussels, with OA flight 147 . flight left half an hour to late, for which they apologised!!! The aircraft had a newer interior , and seat 5 F was really great. Lots of legroom, nobody sitting next to me ;) . Loadfactor was about 65% in Economy and 90% in business.
There were no specials on the flight. I visited the cockpit together with a friend. Prior this, i asked the SCCM if it would be possible to ask the captain, if it would perhaps be possible to use the jumpseat during landing in Brussels. :P She asked this to him, but got a negative answer, so i asked it himself again during the visit. It was ok for him :D :D (YEESSSSSSSS !!!!) So When he started the decend, the SCCM searched me in the cabin, and escorted me to the cockpit. 10 minutes later, we were about to land RWY 25 L . It wasn't a normal landing. We were just TO high, So we touched the runway after the markings, and he left 25 L at the very end of the runway. Because of that, the next A/c in line, beeline XXX had to perform a go around. :o ... The captain apologised to ATC and switched to BRU ground. We taxied via outer 11 - Outer 10 - Outer 9 and inner 8 to Mike, Were we went to Position 160 via outer 5. It took very long before we got our position, and we stayed on Mike for about 5 minutes. There the pilots started a little conversation . they asked if i would like to be a pilot to, if i already have been in the cockpit ,....
It was the perfect end , for a perfect journey ...

Is it perhaps possible to use the jumpseat upon arrival in brussels. She would ask the captain. --> not possible, but we could visit the cockpit inflight, which we did. There , I asked the same question to the captain. He answered, that it was possible. We returned to our seats, and upon approach, the senior pursur, came to invite me into the cockpit :D
