Nowhere as yet :( But believe me, I'm working on it  Have a holiday booked in Oostende and current travel plans are for travel on Eurostar, but I am trying my best to change that! Last time we planned a trip on Eurostar my argument that it was cheaper to go by AF from MAN won the day, so there is still hope

Hello cathay belgium - being female I do not have a wife (why does everyone assume that being an aviation enthusiast means you are male?) I would not fly on Ryanair, I would do without holiday first, though I have to admit even Ryanair must be preferable to P&O Ferries and their horrid floating dustbins - at least on Ryanair the horror only lasts at most a couple of hours on a short flight - on P&O Bedbugs you have to endure it for 15 hours.

I do envy your flight in the DC3 - over here the DC3 flights have been banned thanks to the EU.

We are hoping for the ban on liquids to be lifted soon, then I might get a beer trip to Brussels again sometime

Hi Comet,

Sorry that I just assumed that you're a male, but Comet sounds to me a little male!
and why couldn't females have wife's .. , 10 percent of them just do !
( some friends of my have ... )
But.. again sorry, I know there are also female air-enthousiasts but statistics.. boys with toys, but
I'm glad there are some females on this site!!! :P
Why are the DC3 flights cancelled in the UK  , I saw last night on the net some historic flights
above the UK . ( Dragon rapide above warwick castle departing wellington airfield )

About taking beer : we have relatives in BHX and we brought on the booze ( Chimay,Achouffe, and a lot others..) in our checked in luggage ( SN ) ,no problem , just take a lot of towels and a hard case. ;)
So enjoy BRU again !!, you wouldn't drink your booze all in the terminal would you !!

Have a nice week-end ! Ciao, CX-B

I thought that P&O was decent? Damn I thought about taking them to Hull this summer but reading this I'll just take the ferry from Ostend to Ramsgate. TransEuropaFerries uses a bunch of old ferries (dating from the 70's) but 2 of them are ex-RMT ferries so It's nice to take an historic/old ferry with some histories in Belgium. I love to take a ferry, it's nice when it's good weather and easy to relax and clear your mind a bit and ofcourse enjoy the good air.

As a committed aviation enthusiast, I hated P&O Ferries. I like to get to Belgium an hour after leaving the UK, not 15, but that aside, P&O are dreadful.

The cabins have a weird smell. The plumbing rarely works. In a two berth cabin there is no room to even turn around. I have read that it is not unknown for bedbugs on the ferries, so watch out for them. The cabin walls are thin, so if someone in the next cabin decides to spend all night talking, forget about getting any sleep. The food is vile. There is nowhere to sit and relax without being pestered by some surly individual to buy drinks all the time. The staff at Hull port are not particularly nice. There is one other reason why I refuse to travel with P&O but I will not go into that because it is my own opinion, but I think the reasons I listed are enough to put me off going on the overnight ferry again. I love Zeebrugge but I don't like to see it the P&O way.

Update:

Completed:
January:
Dakar - Bamako - Conakry - Dakar (Compagnie Aerienne du Mali)
February
Dakar - Bamako - Dakar (Air Senegal)
March
Dakar - Conakry - Abidjan - Dakar (Air Ivoire, flying an old 737 of JAT... very shaky and unsafe I believe), return flight was in their new A321.. a lot better. (although the seats were horrible).
May
Dakar - Brussels - London (Brussels Airlines)
London - Dubai - London - Brussels (British Airways) .. very good! Their long haul product is a lot better than Brussels airlines I must say. I didn't know it would be such a difference.
June
Brussels - Dakar (Brussels Airlines)

To be completed:
July
Dakar - Lisbon - London (TAP Portugal)
London - Brussels (EUROSTAR)
Brussels - Lisbon - Dakar (TAP Portugal).

Confirmed, but flights still need to be booked for remainder of the year:
July:
Dakar - Nouackchott - Dakar
Dakar - Abidjan - Dakar

August:
Dakar - Berlin - Copenhagen - Brussels - Dakar

Unsure (75% chance):
Dakar - Bamako - Dakar
Dakar - Capetown - Dakar

So a lot of flying, but accrueing miles goes horribly slow ... 'sigh'

Does anyone know how I will be able to transfer my Continental Airlines and United Airlines points to the Miles & More of Lufthansa (which I will get when they transfer my Privilege miles to that newly to be created account)? (I guess I am lucky all my FFQ are switching to Star Alliance now).

Hey Ozzie,

I checked my confirmation-mail and hey your right it's 12/9/2009,
must be too fast typing then!
I'm sorry for giving wrong info!

Are you flying also that day?
Are you having some expieriences with DDA?
It's gonna be my first time.

Do you know if the plane is just visiting Antwerp or is there something special to do that day?
I was first more interested in going from Eindhoven because thats nearer to my house,
but I tought the views would be more known with me from Anwerp.

Ciao,CX-B

If some other luchtzakkers go on that flight let me know! ( of others have a report )

EBHN-EBKH on Friday next, and next week EBHN-EBZH for my examination test.
Yes it's not much of a flight, I know; but at least I'll be flying - y'all will merely be flown, haha!

Holiday to Namibia in OCT09.

Though it is much cheaper to fly to Cape Town and drive all the way up than flying to Windhoek.
26OCT BRU LHR BA 0399 A319
26OCT LHR CPT BA 0043 B744
13NOV CPT LHR BA 0058 B744
14NOV LHR BRU BA 0392 A319

Return flight CPT LHR was scheduled to leave at around 08h30 AM giving me a day flight to enjoy the
African scenery from above, but BA changed to an evening departure... :(
Was surprised to see that the oldest BA 744´s are already 20 years old (e.g. G-BNLA, B, C, ... ) and the youngest over 10 years old... I hope we got 1 of the latter... ;)

This will be my first long haul trip since I left the airline business ( working for a longhaul carrier out of BRU ) end 2007... Finaly again in the air for some hours...

MAYBE later this year :

Brussels to Ormoc City and back, which could be any number of routes :
e.g. Brussels - Munich Brussels Airlines
Munich - Abu Dhabi Etihad Airways
Abu Dhabi - Manila Etihad Airways
Manila - Ormoc PAL Express
Ormoc - Manila PAL Express
Manila - Abu Dhabi Etihad Airways
Abu Dhabi - Brussels Etihad Airways

or Brussels - Amsterdam KLM cityhopper
Amsterdam - Manila KLM
Manila - Ormoc PAL Express
Ormoc - Manila PAL Express
Manila - Amsterdam KLM
Amsterdam - Brussels KLM cityhopper

or any other combination flying e.g. Qatar Airways or China Airlines...
