LH 744 at LGG ? It was actually an A343 !

Post by airtrainer »

Hi,

This afternoon (23.11) I saw a Lufthansa 744 parked at the North Terminal in LGG, anybody has more info on that unusual visitor ?
Thanks.

As far as I know, there is no 744F in the LH fleet but only MD11 and 777.

Hello

I just checked the loaded flightplans and can't find any Lufthansa flight or even D-registered aircraft.
The only 747's I found are El Al, CAL and TNT

Greetings,
All my posted timings are local !

Strange indeed, I could only see the tail from where I was but it's definitely LH. Will try to have a look again tomorrow...

Hi. This is no B747, but an A340. It's sitting there for about two weeks now. Probably diverted to LGG due to pilot strike.

Then it's probably D-AIGS, its there from 6 NOV.

So its cheap winter parking i guess ;)
How come they have no use in winter for such a plane ?

It's there for a maintenance and winter parking, I heard the plane is still there at least until mid january.

Hmmm thanks for the update, I was too far to see clearly but it has to be the first time I take an A340 for a 747
