Why some cargo flights are not displayed on the B. Airport

Post by sergioboeing »

Dear All,

Some cargo flights are not always displayed on the Brussels Airport website such as Aerologic or even Kalitta.
Do you know the reason?
Best regards,

Both are operating for DHL and DHL flights are not being published publicly.
These aircraft are not being parked at Brucargo, but at the 500 and 600 positions.

This immediately raises the question why DHL flight are not published publicly? It is not like a military or a commercial secret...

Because the schedule of DHL aicraft change to much, the schedule times change sometimes in the last hr or even 30 minutes . if you have to publish those changes each time, it would at a full time IT-job at Brussels airport .

Cargo flights are normally never displayed on public displays, not on most major airports I know the world (if you talk about the displays in airports and on the internet departures/arrivals pages). The ones shown are mistakes actually.

I imagine Sergio was talking about the Cargo flights displayed on the Brussels Airport website. Those are, in fact, accurately displayed. Even if planned flights are cancelled, they are displayed on the site, with a "canceled" notice next to it.

The schedules of the cargo airlines (e.g. SV, RJ, RUN...) are also very irregular, however these arrival and departure times are published by BAC under 'Flight Info".

http://www.brusselsairport.be/en/cargo/flinfo/

The DHL arrival times are also in the airport system and technically they could easily be made public as well, just like all other arrival times.

I suspect that the reason for not publishing the DHL arrival/departure times is simply because there is no demand for it. Only spotters would want to know.

I guess a big chunk of the DHL cargo volume is connecting. The part which is destined for the Belgian market will expectedly be delivered off the airport, at the door of businesses and people's houses.

On the other hand, some companies and people may need to know the exact arrival times of cargo flights, because some people may want to pick up their parcel (perishables?) as soon as possible after the airplane has arrived.

To track a parcel, when it is in transit with DHL or any other courier/airline for that matter, there is a tracker system (App??) that is accessible by a unique number and password.
That is why every handling step is followed by scanners and/or manual registration.

If there are urgent packages on board an a/c, a message will be send to the arrival airport handler that a special package is on it's way.
So they can give notice to the customer about the arrival time. Who then can choose to be waiting for it on arrival or pick it up asap.
