Why are there dedicated flights from/to Basel?

I can understand the reasoning behind the TLV flights, as TLV is regarded as thé newest party town ... but BSL ...

See SN press release: viewtopic.php?p=283940#p283940

"The demand for the flights departing from Basel was so big that the airline decided to exceptionally schedule A330-200 aircraft on these routes. Because it is highly unusual that a long haul plane flies a European route, there was a big interest among aviation enthusiasts to experience this flight. Brussels Airlines gladly arranged for them to fly along towards Basle."

Plane changed to A330-300 OO-SFN.

It would be highly appreciated if a spotter could post photographs of OO-SFN taking off at 10:50 with several members of this forum.

Due to the destination, do you think A330 land on 25L or 25R ?

Thanks ;)

The fact that it's a Tomorrowland flight won't probably change much so I would guess 25L.
Will be parked at position 300's

SN seems to devote a lot of resources to this event: on top of the previously announced A332 flights to Basel and Tel Aviv, now changed to A333, there was an extra A319 yesterday morning and one more today to TLV.

The change to A333 seems strange: of course it has a few more seats than the A332, but the change seems to have been decided very recently, although for such an event I guess reservations must have been made long in advance. It was certainly not a technical problem with the A332 as they are all 3 flying right now.

[BTW, they canceled SN 369 to Douala-Yaounde today; maybe not linked to the Tomorrowland event.]

I think it has more to do with the TLV or IAD flights that (I think) are also open for regular passengers, thus possibly requiring more seats at the last minute.

Quixotic Guide took a picture from the bus driving the AvGeeks from the gate to the stand of the Tomorrowland A330 to BSL. I hope he will post it here.
