Bad news about this flight: it was a medical diversion, and the passenger has died:

A Jet Airways Airbus A330-200, registration VT-JWK performing flight 9W-227 from Newark,NJ (USA) to Brussels (Belgium) with 215 people on board, was enroute at FL390 about 90nm southeast of Gander,NL (Canada) when the crew decided to divert to Gander due to a male passenger who had fallen critically ill. The crew reported the man had suffered from an infection and now had difficulty breathing, a doctor was on board and also recommended diversion. The airplane landed safely on Gander's runway 31 about 20 minutes later. The passenger was taken to a local hospital. The patient had to be pronounced dead a short time after arrival in the hospital. An autopsy is going to identify the cause of the illness and death.
