Hello everybody,
I was welcomed by a nice layer of snow in my garden this morning.
At LUX they'll be happy with it, as all 3 SNBA A330's diverted to LUX !
The UA 763 diverted too, someone knows to which airport ?
Regards, Robin Bamps.

perhaps a stupid question but what happens with the pax during the diversion : do they have to stay on board or can they debark and walk around in some terminal
If you can count the blades of my engines while they work, you are too close to be save

This doesn't only happen in BRU. I remember that many times we got some diversion from AMS, CDG, ... when they had snow fall there last year and they years before. I think this is a common problem in all the major airports. I just wonder how they do it in airports like JFK and EWR for example. They have a huge amount of traffic in these airports and also a huge snow fall in the winter! I would really like to just be there one day when they have a snow storm to see how they procede with this! Has to be amazing!luchtzak wrote:Amazing how an airport like Brussels can run into total disorder! l:
They normally wait inside the plane, the pilot checks out the weather (taf & metar) to find out if improvement is expected in short or long term. If no improvement is foreseen in short term, the pax debark and are transported via road.SN_Bigbirdy wrote:but what happens with the pax during the diversion : do they have to stay on board or can they debark and walk around in some terminal
I guess BRU is an airport with the least delays of all in the surroundings due to weather conditions. In this case the airport was informed about expecting 5 cm of snow in early morning. Runway cleaners did labour work to keep one rwy free, but with some bad luck (see my earlier reply) these delays may still happen. So visibility was the problem, not the snow.
Besides the use of some chemicals a blowing machine with engine power is used.

In DUS we just board on time, keep the pax on board in order to be ready as soon as airport opens again.SN_Bigbirdy wrote:perhaps a stupid question but what happens with the pax during the diversion : do they have to stay on board or can they debark and walk around in some terminal
I was crewmember on LH408 to EWR and we were waiting for 2h35min with our pax on board .... we try to keep them busy....
