There will be a press conference on that topic at CRL, in the presence of Federal Minister of Mobility Bellot, Walloon Minister of Airports Crucke, Belgocontrol and CRL CEOs and a representative of LGG. And Aviation24.be :)

On both versions they specify English is compulsory, French is an asset. But NO English version of their call for candidates! :o

The above links are the publication in Belgium' State Gazette, and that lovely newspaper is only available in Dutch and French.

Meanwhile, it's available in English here:

The aim of this recruitment is to hire only French speakers. The "is an asset" is just there for legal reasons. Flemishs, go your way...

This recruitment is also open to non-native french speaking people !
But in the "Admission conditions and prerequisites - Selection 2018" one can read : "Knowledge of English is an inherent part of the job of air traffic controller. Knowledge of French is recommended too"

But the lack of french speaking controllers at Belgocontrol is an indisputable fact.

Every dutch speaking ATCO trainees failed their training in Charleroi and Liège in the past. Not being fluent in French to work there will cause lots of problems...

They didn't fail but chose not to continue in LGG or CRL. They had this option if they didn't feel comfortable with French. All trainees chose not to jeopardize their chances and prefered to start a new OJT in BRU, ANT or OST.

The only 2 trainees that failed recently in LGG and CRL were french speaking people !

But I can figure that not being fluent in French to work there can cause lots of problems...

Anyone who can give more info on the working schedule as a ATCO?
I have read in an older post that you are working 25 days a month. Is this correct? Seems a lot

How many days are you working on a row before you get days off? Any current ATCO willing to share his current schedule?

You work 25 days a month when there are not enough controllers... That's why they recruit now ;)
Otherwise, the basis is 35 hours per week (7 hours/day). If you work more than that, you accumulate overtime hours ("CP hours") and you can have more days off later (much later)...
You can work a great deal of different shifts : beginning at 7 am, 8 am, 9 am, 2 pm, 3 pm... and so on, ending 7 hours later. Or at night, beginning at 9 or 10 pm, ending in that case generally 10 hours later.
You can work up to 12 days in a row, followed by 2 days off (or 11 days, followed by 1 day off)...

12 days in a row with 2 days off? Wow, that seems a lot. So let's say that in a month, you can work 24 days with only 4 days off?

It happens, not every month for everybody, but it happens often enough that it’s not a rarity.

This is just the case for Belgocontrol, correct?
I know some people at Eurocontrol, and they work like three days a week?

I assume that will be one of the reasons why they started training new batches the last years. Once they come into service, I'll hope it stabilizes.

More than 250 candidates will participate in the selection tests to start a training as Air Traffic Controller. #Belgocontrol is recruiting for its control towers at @LGGLiegeAirport and @CRL_Airport. Good luck to everyone! 🍀✈️

Hi all,

Took part to the latest selection process with Belgocontrol for CRL & LGG.

I’ve passed FEAST II and I was wondering if someone knew when the next testing phase will take place. Is it still planned in September or maybe sooner?

Cheers
