B-52 from dessert back on duty

Post by regi »

Because an active B-52 got damaged, a stored B-52 got reactivated.

If the Russians keep their Bears active, the USA keeps their B-52 in the air as well.

Amazing! a plane of 53 years old. Older than its crewmembers. And also older than most US Navy Ships.
Must be solid construction. Maybe this reactivation is also meant as some sort of experiment. To what extent can military planes of this size, stored for 8-10 years in the desert, be re-activated. Interesting.
I'm wondering what the max.storage period of a plane can be to still allow an effective and economically justifiable re-activation...

Grtz.

Restarting production for just one piece can hardly be more effective, I should think.
And yes, one can have many misgivings about Uncle Sam, but for building solid few will do better.
