American Airlines and jetways

Post by nwa757 »

A lot of older pictures I see of American Airlines, from the 1980s and early 1990s, show people boarding via airstairs and not jetways. So my question is this, did American Airlines have jetways in the 80s and early 90s?

Thanks

Normally the jetways are property of the airport authorities. If you have a/c parked on a remote stand this means that either there are no jetways or none more available.
Another possibility is that those a/c are parked on a remote stand due long groundtimes.

744rules,
Even when jetways are available, some airlines sometimes choose not to use them. Could it be because of higher fees? This seems doubtful, because a bus transfer also costs money!
