I was wondering when and with what type they gone replacer there Boeing 747-430?
The oldest is already 27 years old and I did not find any order whatsoever in total they have 37 of them.
With a overcrowded Heathrow it could be the Airbus 380 or maybe the 777X.
Also if they order now it means that not before two years they will get them.
Means there 747 will approach the thirties.
British Airways Boeing 747-436.

Re: British Airways Boeing 747-430.
I dont think that there will be additional A380's at BA. If anything they will be replaced by A350's, however this is more a long time project. With the recent cabin refreshment of a part of the fleet the B747's are here to stay for at least another 6 years.
Re: British Airways Boeing 747-430.
Woaw this means that the oldest will reach 33 year's!
And with Heathrow is it not smart to buy the A380?

Re: British Airways Boeing 747-430.
The A380's can only serve a niche market really and BA is not satisfied with its cargo carrying capability, therefore dont think they will go with more than 12 (unless cheap second hands maybe)
Re: British Airways Boeing 747-436.
Only a niche market because there CARGO capability or it's too big?

Sorry, I don't want to be too picky, but the "430" are (ex-) Lufthansa Boeings.
British Airways code is/was "436".

Re: British Airways Boeing 747-436.
And why not some new or even second-hand 747-8i aircraft? Bankrupt Transaero has just sent two of them to the desert in Victorville.

You think it's a good idea to choose a plane that will be out of production shortly.
It's a question I don't now but for example the spare pieces etc...

Re: British Airways Boeing 747-436.
Spare parts remain available very long after cessation of production: see the F50s of VLM!
