EL Al 1990 request

Post by cathay belgium »

Hi guys,

I often have a discussion with my wife, she teases me that she has flown B727-B707 in July/August 1990.
As she don't has aviation interests as me she teases me..

I know she has flown end July / begin August EL AL to Tel Aviv.. from BRU.
I know El Al had these types together with B732-B762..

Does anybody still remember which types El Al has been using in these period on route to BRU ?

I know skystef can't help because it's too long ago, I know types may vary but what was common
in the days..

Make my day and answer B732-B767..
Make me cry and answer B707-B727..

Thanks for thinking about it..

On Airliners I don't see any pic before 1990 !

Afaik, LY never operated the 727. At least I never saw it at BRU nor elsewhere.

I believe B707 + B732 + B757 were common LY visitors at BRU during that time.

I also remeber LY to operate 732 (with additional fuel tank cpt 3) or 707. This one used to be parked on stands 37-40 (apron between south- and north finger).

Sorry Cathay, but if the bet was for a dinner, it 'll be you paying.

I am getting a bit older, but is it possible that I saw also El Al B747 at Brussels in 1988-1989-1990 ?
Maybe just cargo , don't remember.

Here you go - but this wasn't a regular visitor apparently...

This is what I found in my own personal logs :

16/07/87 Brussel- Tel Aviv LY Boeing 767-258(ER) 4X-EAD
30/07/87 Tel-Aviv - Brussel LY Boeing 707-258 4X-ATS

It's not an answer to your specific question about 1990, but it is the proof that the 707 was used, at least in the second half of the 80's (I didn't keep the flight numbers though...).
That flight was my only 707 flight...
Unfortunately, I don't keep these logs anymore nowadays...

Regards,

Duke

The note with the picture about the special protection treatment for El Al reminds me about my remarks about the specific military ( not police !) precautions when an El Al flight was anounced.

Timetable summer 1990 for EL AL said: Monday B737-200, Friday and Sunday B757-200.
The odd EL AL B747-200 that came by was linked to flights to the States (fuel stop), this was for example the case on August 22.
There were no EL AL B707 flights anymore in that season. However a charter of Arkia showed up, namely on July 5 1990, 4X-AXG in all white marking and no titles.
