to be continued.......

I read somewhere (I guess here, on luchtzak) that the last contract of an RJ is until 2010... The first to be replaced is in 2005. If they would not keep the RJ's, I guess they will choose for the A318 (or better: new A319, not in the picture) It would be regrettable, RJ's are nice planes...

nice yes but not really economic, high maintenance -----> four engines,
slow only M.70, and old technology cockpit wise.....

don't know A318 rather high landing weight if you ask me, they say the 717 would be more economic than the A318 and the embraer 170-190 series,
I wonder....

717 is just an upgraded version of the DC9/MD80/MD90 series.
Besides a company that has all Airbus plane will not chosse that fast for a Boeing aircraft with the eye on maintenance costs.

The battle will go between the A318 and EMB170/190 if you ask me.
I think A318 makes a good change to replace the Avro's.
Maybe some EMB170/190 will ordered for the routes with a lower loadfactor.

yes true , but who says they will keep the airbus a/c. A319 contracts end next year and don't know if they are going to take over the A330 of Birdy

Personally I think the 717 is in a good position, because it is a reliable and quiet plane. Don't forget it is the last one in the DC9 legacy!

And on top of that Boeing is loosing much terrain in Europe, so they'll do efforts to sell their planes here. Besides the 717 has to book some orders in the near future or it is going to be "terminated".

The Embraer is quite smaller in cabin space than the other two.
The 318 is I think only interesting from a fleet commonality point of view. I see it as a smaller complement to the 319 not an important factor in a 319 dominated fleet, like for Frontier for example, but SNBA has only 3 319's .

Wait and see..

What about the B737NG's :?: expecially if they don't want to continue the contract of the A319's.

Anyway, if it should be one of those 3 planes I'd go for the B717 or maybe for a mix of B717's and ERJ's.

BTW does someone know when SNBA will have taking the decision :?:

Boeing is desperate to find new customers for the B717... I would not rule this one out!

Don't look at the A319's of SN, I don't know when the lease of this aircraft ends, but it will certainly be before 2010.

Maybe ERJ145 and B717? Who knows...

A few remarks:

1) The A319s have just been delivered in new colours. Even if the lease contract expires soon, it can be renewed at favourable conditions: the market is low! Furthermore, SN BA needs that sort of planes for destinations like MOW, IST, CMN, TLV. (...and to replace the A330s when they have problems...)

2) The A330 agreement with Birdy expires in October. SN BA has stated several times that they would take over the planes and the crews.

3) For smaller planes, the BAe RJ types can be ideally replaced by the Embraer 170/190.

4) SN BA critically needs a plane of smaller capacity. The ERJ 135/140/145 seems ideal if bought or leased in common with the larger 170/190.

André,

Don't you think that SNBA would need more planes that have a cpacity as the A319 ? I mean the ERJ170/190 is very nice but SNBA will be expanding in the future and could need more planes like for example the B717, B737NG or A319's.

TAlking about the A319 of SN: I was surprised when I saw the inside of the A319 on the opendoor. The floor in the aisle wasn't looking very nice anymore. It should be replaced ;)

A propos: Is still NOBODY ablme to tell me when SNBA will have to take the decision ??? I can't wait anymore :!: :D

This doesn't mean that I don't want to see the Avro's anymore ;) They have to stay for as long as possible :P

Just a quick taste of how they might look like ...

Boeing B717-200

Embrear ERJ-170

Couldn't find an A318 :( ...

Not from a economic or capacity perspective, but from a spotters-perspective, I'd rule out the 717 ... Ugly bastard ...
I'd love to see the ERJ-170/190 or the A318 with SNBA.

The SN Brusseld Livery looks really good at the ERJ.

Can't help it but I think the B717 looks old althought the plane is not that old yet.
