Air France B777-300ER

Post by golf1411 »

This weekend I fly from Orly to Nice in with AF B777-300ER.
I was looking for the registrations of the AF B773 and noticed that they skipped the Q and W for the registration. So F-GSQQ and F-GSQW do not exist.
What could be the reason for this?

Probably in case of id confusion. F-GSQQ looks like F-GSQO from distance etc same case for V & W.
Incidentally the next sequence for the AF triples is F-GZNA etc.

Hi,

F-GSQQ and F-GSQW don't exist effectively, as well as F-GSQZ. As Emirates correctely stated, the new 777 regs are F-GZN*.

The last 2 B747 COI (F-GITC and F-GITD - based at CDG) will be replaced by 2 B77W. These B747 are going to be first AF B747-400 to be withdrawn from service, in march 2009. I assume that the 2 B77W will be registered F-GSQQ and F-GSQW, leaving room for possible expansion (F-GSQZ).

Hope this helped a bit...

Seb.

My trip to Nice is over. I flew from Orly to Nice with B777-328ER F-GSQR and return flight with A320-111 F-GGEE.
I heard they use the B777-328ER to Nice to have more capacity on this route but the plane was less than half full. :?:

Yes, AF uses COI* 77Ws for summer season (472 seats) to Nice and Corsica. The 77W replaces advantageously B747-400s formerly used on these routes.

The seven COI 77W regs are :
F-GSQN
F-GSQO
F-GSQP
F-GSQR
F-GSQS
F-GSQT
F-GSQX

I would like to correct myself on this :

On all the recently delivered aircraft, none of them wear the F-xxxW registration. So, the 2 B777W I was reffering will be likely registered F-GSQQ and F-GSQZ. I have the feeling that all of this is due to Airbus France, which have probably booked already all the F-xxxW registrations for theirs aircraft, waiting for delivery.
