My first crew position was as a navigator and radio operator aboard a C-117, a U.S. military version of the DC-3 (hence, my handle). My age? The first DC-3 flew on December 17, 1935. I was a 19 year old crewman aboard a C-117 thirty-four years after the first flight of the DC-3.
