ROME 30-31/10/2021 G20 summit

Post by Xan »

There is a G20 summit in Rome, Italy, on 30-31 October 2021.

This means that the government/state leaders of Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Republic of Korea, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Turkey, the United Kingdom, the United States, and the European Union will be flying into Rome.

If you are in Italy at the end of the month, it will be a great opportunity to spot government airplanes of all these leaders. Alternatively, you can radar spot them on ADSBExchange.

Note that the EU does not have its own airplane and the Presidents of the EU Council and of the EU Commission usually buy a ticket on a commercial airliner.

Air Force One (today -Monday)

Schedule POTUS according to CNN

1) AF1 departs Washington on Thursday (that's later today - US time) for Rome.

2) On Friday he meets with the Pope and with French President Macron, so Macron will already be in Rome on Friday as well. Presumably so will most of the other G20 leaders as there usually are several bilateral talks ahead of the G20.

3) Saturday and Sunday = G20

4) Biden will then fly from Rome to Glasgow for the COP26 World Leader Summit. Presumably the others will do so too, so the Rome-Glasgow route might get interesting for spotters.

Great circle route (actual flight path may be different) : http://www.gcmap.com/mapui?P=FCO-GLA
