Where did you spot this year?

Post by EHAM »

In the beginning of the year Comet placed a topic called "Where will you spot in 2005"

https://www.aviation24.be/postx8038-0-0.htmlspot

Maybe now, at the end of 2005, it's time to tell where did you spot this year?

My list for 2005 was:

CDG
FRA
DUS
CGN
ZRH
VIE
STN
CPH
MAN

And offcourse my homebase AMS. ;-)

Curious about your lists.

As a military spotter I did most airshows in the region (NL, BE, FR) and visited a lot of military airfields in Germany and Hungary.
During my holiday I did almost all military airports in Israel (from in and outside the fence):
Palmachim
Tel Nov
Tel Aviv
Haifa
Ramat David
Sde Dov
Bar Lev (heli-maintanance)
IAI Lahav (IAI military Aircraft)
Hatzor
Hatzerim

And in a few months I will be going back to the Holy Land, to see the other airfields (and aircraft)

greetings

I have had a very few spots this year, but all very rewarding in terms of new aircraft, liveries or airlines.

In March I had Manchester and Brussels. (At MAN I bagged the Helios which crashed near Athens).

In June I had Manchester.

In September I had Birmingham (BHX) and Brussels.

In November I had Manchester and Brussels (including my first Etihad which I was very pleased about).
Sabena and Sobelair - gone but never forgotten.

So far this year I have visited 71 airports/airfields (with [to date] 218 visits to Brussels when I've made a log) in 9 countries with 1 more of each to come - off to Almeria on Christmas Eve.

My total made so far (registrations not photographs) is 8700 (frames & scrapes). Obviously the US trip in April accounts for many of these but Brussels has been pretty good this year, too.

Favourite this year must have been Atlanta, staying in the Renaissance Hotel - just a perfect spotting enviromonment. - 10th floor, a balcony with warm sunshine and room service. What more could a spotter desire.

Least favourite experience - trying to read of nightstoppers at Strasbourg at 2 in the morning in sub-zero temperatures with snow on the ground whilst on the way to Zurich at the end of January for the World Economic Forum biz-jet fest. Zurich was worth the trip but the temperature never got above -6C all day!

Most aircraft seen in a day. Started at Tucson Intl (slight arrest but no real problem) flight to Marana, overflying D-M on the way - over 4000 seen.

If you want to see a full list it may take a while to type!
