Today, president Bush will visit the Netherlands. He will land at 19:45 at Maastricht. I've just read in the newspaper that there will be a chartered B747 and 2 Air Force One boeings. Does anyone know why 2 Air Force One planes?
thanks

Re: re
Aha, thanks I always thought there was only one B747 Air Force One plane. But there are obviously more.
Yes, I've heard that. People were confused by that.V-Bird wrote:Air Force one arriverd 30 minutes early at 19.15hrs LT at Maastricht Aachen Airport

To clear things up:
There are two Boeing 747's on which the US President (Bush in this case) flies.
This are the 82-8000 and 92-9000, both VC-25's
The other aircraft, the E4B's, are just in case something terrible happens (I believe)!
About the callsigns:
Air Force 1, is used when the president is on an aircraft from de United States Air Force, normally, the two VC25's
Marine 1, is used when the president is on an aircraft from de United States Marine, normally, on of the VH60's
On Maastricht, Bush travelled in the Air Force one, the other plane, called in with it's own registration: SAM28000 or SAM29000
bye,
Rob
