Re: Ryanair comes back to Ostend !

Without the subsidies that Ryanair would get from the regional jokermen. no, you are wrong: the subsidies are mandatory the same, if any company complies with the requests(*) for obtaining the subsidies: that's the law. (so, if Jetair opens OST-AGP before FR, they will obtain the subsidies) (*) as ...

Re: Brussels Airlines: a sixth A330 soon?

The problem with JFK is that it will require daily or near daily service which means it cannot be combined with BOS What about a triangular service BRU-BOS-JFK-BRU? Or is the US market too much different from Africa, where SN has applied this concept for many years? Perhaps BRU-BOS-JFK-BRU on some ...

Re: new A319 for SN

I quite like b.air's Avrojet, but the problem with these aircraft is that they burn more or less 50 % more fuel than an A319 (per pax/km) and with the current cost of oil, these aircraft are expensive to operate. I'm tempted to say that the Avrojets' fuel consumption is maybe one of the main reason...

Re: Brussels Airlines' loadfactor

(132 seats in A319, 142 in B733 and 164 in B734). If A319's would replace the 737's that would increase their loadfactor already. If loadfactor is that low, and as a "quick win", why don't they throw out 12-18 seats from the B733 and B734? Advantages : less weight (= less fuel burn) and m...

Re: Brussels Airport is a disaster when it freezes and snows

Why not set up a (temporary) airshuttle between Southend & Lydd to Ostend Not very realistic, letting a plane fly is not like dispatching a cab to some place. You need a plane and more important a crew. Crews are bound to some serious duty time regulations etc. so after the awful weather in Eur...

There a thousands of pax blocked there, if not a hundred thousand, it's not 2 round trip that will help anything Why not set up a (temporary) airshuttle between Southend & Lydd to Ostend, like in the early sixties? (Times of Channel express,British Air Ferries,etc..) 2-3 planes could make quite...

Talking about BRU-JNB-BRU ,does anyone on this forum have info on the loadfactors of the Sabena-operation when they were part of the Swissair-group? Or LF of Sobelair when they operated 3Xweek to JNB? I seem to remember that the SN LF was not too bad (+75?)although with low yields , and the SLR LF a...
