Re: future of BMI, SN to Heathrow
Since there is no market for these birds right now nor in the foreseeable future, we can regard SN extending the leases on some of their leased Avro's as a strategic mistake. Using your owned equipment is always better than leasing equipment and keeping your own owned aircraft in storage... The lea...

Re: future of BMI, SN to Heathrow
Granted the Bae's aren't exactly efficient aircraft but sitting on the tarmac they only generate lost opportunity and other costs whereas the wetlease BD A319's operating only LHR flights have no advantage whatsoever. Since the Bae's are amongst the most unefficient aircraft in SN's fleet they were...

Re: Will EK (Emirates) come to BRU?
This information is confirmed by several news . So BRU destination fo EK : looks more and more as a wishful thinking...  Why does everybody see this as a bad thing? Is it that cool to have EK flying to your airport? This would have some advantages, but probably more disadvantages... Ther...

Well, it seems like BRU is going to do pretty good long haul... North-America: ****************** BRU-EWR - Continental - B772 (probably since summer season) BRU-EWR - Jet Airways - B77W (?) BRU-IAD - United - B763 BRU-ORD - United - B763 BRU - ORD - American - B763 BRU - YUL - Air Canada - B763 BRU...

There is a mistake on the airport map... UA's check-in isn't on row 9, but on row 4, within the SN area... Unless they are going to move again...

Re: future of BMI, SN to Heathrow
Anyway, I guess the whole thing will be watched closely by everybody at SN, OS and so on, it shows how fast LH can make changes inside the big company between the different airlines, if one is not competitive enough. So it is indeed a kind of indirect warning as well ... I think LH realises that it...

Re: Will EK (Emirates) come to BRU?
Well not being funny here but if you want to have the exclusive package you rent a private plane, and if you think Emirates is crap well think again it is the best company I have ever flown in Y and is way superior than many companies in terms of class, amenities and service. And having had a peak ...

Re: Will EK (Emirates) come to BRU?
I hope EK will never come to BRU, actually... With al due respect to them, but they fly to everywhere in the world, so they are not 'exclusive' in my opinion. EY is more exclusive and prestigious since they seem to be selecting their destinations. And even more important is the fact that BRU would l...

Re: Lufthansa's 747 combi's stored at HAM
I just red that lufthansa was sending 2 of its Boeing 747-430M to the desert. But they changed there plans, now the 2 planes are stored at HAM untill March 2010. They are going to put them back in service. Now I was thinking why did they decided this. Will they maybe send the planes to Brussels air...

Re: African operations possible with narrow body equipment
That is a rational post on your part. Let's hope indeed that LH will buy SN in 2011 and further invest into it... Star Alliance will be good for traffic in Europe, to raise the load factors, etc... but it seems UA is interested in expanding to Africa on their own so I don't know if SN can rely on t...

Re: LH looks for savings and more revenue > reduces service
Nobody is making you step out of the bus and wait your turn outside in the rain when the bus full of pax arrives at the plane; you can just as well let all those in a hurry go first and then when they are in, go in turn, without having to wait on the ramp and under the rain. For some weird reason I...

Re: BRUSSELS AIRLINES to join STAR ALLIANCE in December
I agree that painting a plane is mostly done and has a great marketing value. But I do have my full respect for the decision of not investing in paint in crisis times, when SN people have to go on economic leave for the last week of December. It would be a wrong signal towards the employees. Look a...

Re: Belgian Government: 1 A330 will replace the A310's
Maybe it is a bit to modern for an goverment airplane. But I like it, why should there be a full logo on the tail, that would make it ugly you now. No, that would make it look decent. It's a government plane, it doens't have to look stylish or trendy, it has to look decent. And then we have t...

What an awfully ugly bird. Couldn't they have made the logo on the tail smaller so it coulf fit completely on the tail? And what about the Belgian flag on top of the fuselage?

Any news about a plane possibly being painted in Star Alliance colors?
I guess we won't see an A330, but maybe an A319 or a 737?

Re: 5th A330 for Brussels Airlines
Or we gonna have A330 or maybe a little worse but nicer to see a B747-400 in the future. Given that: - Cargo is pretty profitable - A330 is hard to get - B744 is easier to get, especially as LH has to much - B744 Combi has about the same Number of Pax as a A330 - B744 should have enough range witho...
