I've already bought a ticket for the Thalys highspeed train. Mechelen-Paris and back, only €53. :D Off course, I'd rather fly... But I couldn't keep waiting. The longer you wait the more expensive the train ticket.

Sunday afternoon, around 4 PM planes changed landings from RWY 25L and R to RWY20. In that case they fly over Muizen ( with gear already down ). Muizen is a small village in the vicinity of Mechelen on the road to Leuven. When it's stormy weather and RWY 20 is in use the planes are even lower. The e...

The disaster in Tenerife wasn't caused by two 747's landing at the same time. The KLM 747 was taking off without proper clearance and the Panam 747 was backtracking on the same RWY in thik fog. Planes had to backtrack on the same RWY since taxiways were overcrowded due to a diversion from Las Palmas...

Antonov 124

Has anybody any idea what an Antonov 124 is doing in Brussels? I saw this plane landing on RWY 25R, Saturday evening. When I drove home I saw it standing at the apron where the DAT hangars used to be.

The MD-11 is also my favourite. I had the chance to fly with OO-CTB "Albatros" from City Bird to Miami in September ´99. On the flight back to Brussels I stayed about 15 minuts in the cockpit.
What I remember most of it was the sensation of the tail engine pushing in your back on climb...

The last weekend of September ( anniversary C-130 ) I saw and heard a triple seven from Egyptair take-off on RWY 25R. I was standing on the military apron so I could get a good look. The sound off those giant turbines was magnificient!!

[ This message was edited by: MD-11 on 24-02-2003 11:41 ]
