Re: BRU winter 09-10: latest news, routes, airlines
Besides, the 734 is quite a big plane for a network carrier like SN. It may have been the perfect plane for VEX, but they offered quite low frequencies on their routes. SN on the other hand offers more frequencies, thus sees less pax per flight, making the 737-400 with its 160+ seats often overkill...

Re: BRU winter 09-10: latest news, routes, airlines
Care to elaborate just what benefits ORY offers which CDG can't? My personal opinion is that it doesn't matter whether SN serves CDG or ORY (or both), as they would just be attracting the same pax at ORY they now pick up at CDG, but given ORY is about 10 min flying further south, it would make the ...

Re: BRU winter 09-10: latest news, routes, airlines
And in my opinion SN must start to fly to AMS, that will atract also more *A partners that are now flying to AMS (like CO with their Houston operation) CO is codesharing with KLM for now on the route BRU-AMS. In my opinion an route Houston-BRU must be possible but only when they drop Houston-AMS an...

Re: BRU winter 09-10: latest news, routes, airlines
Something I hope for is all 4 new destinations (Ouagadougou, Bamako, Cotonou, Lomé) and 1-2 more frequenties on existing routes. Than they can't operate 3 frequenties a week to al this 4 destinations but that isn't needed in the beginning I think, altough with Air France SN need to wacht out. On a ...

Re: BRU winter 09-10: latest news, routes, airlines
Given this date coincides with SN's formal accession to STAR alliance at the annual meeting of all STAR alliance CEOs in BRU and the airline wants to make quite a big event out of it, I have a feeling it will be a GO this time. ;-) Wouldnt even be surprised to see this plane in a STAR-alliance live...

Re: Infrastructure of Brussels Airport
The Belgian government has decided to put a new tax on every train ticket to or from the Brussels airport. The tax will finance part of the cost of the so-called Diabolo. The tax is 2,05 euros for the moment; it will be raised to 4,10 euros when the Diabolo is put in service (thought to be in 2012)...

Re: Curious new Ryanair route
Ryanair launched a curious route this week, linking two airports neither of which are currently bases. The route in question is from Paris Beauvais (BVA) to Oslo Torp (TRF) and it will operate daily. Analysis of Ryanair’s schedules reveals that the route is actually operated by a Glasgow Prestwick ...

Re: Opening of low cost terminal postponed to 2011
Why would we need a low cost airport ? Brussels already has a low cost airport. It is called Brussels South Airport. No need to build another low cost airport or terminal. It's already there. Are we communists? We live in a free market and as such, BRU is in title to or even should explore all mark...

Re: Brussels Airport: monthly figures 2009
Right ... I guess that's also why the airport located 30km in the south had an increase of 40% :D Always good fun with official communication from BRU :) Well, it could be a reason. While CRL is a mainly FR-airport with only a marginal operation of other companies, BRU has the vast majority of leis...

Re: Opening of low cost terminal postponed to 2011
If you don't mind, I'd like to ask however the same question I've already asked back then too, soon after the topic was launched: Do these goals include the reality of tomorrow, i.e. that the home carrier is going to be a STAR alliance member soon (as from December 9th of this year)? Are you sure a...

Re: Opening of low cost terminal postponed to 2011
Typical Atlantis answer. Underdog mentality. Since it was possible to attract 9W, in a great way, why would it not be possible to bring ANA , TG.. What a comparison... 9W didn't have a significant presence in Europe and was in search of a hub to start flying to North-America. BRU was heavily ...

Re: Opening of low cost terminal postponed to 2011
LCC terminal will NEVER open, believe me . Good thing is that WVA has resigned; that being said:  I would rather say it's about time for BAC to focus on real issues. Notably the empty b-pier after 13.00h. How many times have I landed in BRU after 1.00 pm to find a real ghost airport. They sh...

Re: Opening of low cost terminal postponed to 2011
A delay of 18 months? Okay, the terminal was far from finished and wouldn't be up for opening at the planned date, but this delay is out of proportions. I guess the airport authorities are awaiting the SN/LH/Star Alliance outcome so they could ultimately refurbish the terminal into a full service te...

Re: Infrastructure of Brussels Airport
What old C-pier? The old C-pier got demolished years ago as far as I know? Are you talking about the narrow passage to the remote satellite? Yep, that's the one I'm talking about and actually this is the C-pier. The torn down infrastructure was called 'finger south' and was merely an extension of t...
