Re: New Gates at the end of the A pier?

Anybody got an idea as to when the works on the extended A pier will start, because indeed, BRU seems to be short on gates during the rush hours and is extensively making use of remote stands, something which I personally hate a lot...

Re: New Gates at the end of the A pier?

So no actual boarding will happen at those stands then?
What is the advantage of having them park overthere? Aren't they going to block a taxiway?
I remember planes de-ice overthere in winter, so where are they going to do that in future?

New Gates at the end of the A pier?

Came back from a business trip yesterday and saw that at the end the A pier -where the sunrise lounge of Brussels airlines is located- an A330 was parked almost perpendicular to the terminal, on what appeared to be a new gate... As I've never seen this before, I am wondering: Are there indeed new ga...

Re: Moderators' neutrality vote

I think that you know very well what I accuse you of. Firstly, how can I know? I am nothing but a drunk man, intellectually unable to understand your enlightened posts, right? Secondly, accusing people is not what this forum is about; we are here to discuss the posts, not the people making them, a ...

Re: Moderators' neutrality vote

This week I have been warned of a permanent ban, due to expressing a critic on Inquirer's unruly behavior, which is their job to detect. Since I am personally mentioned here by Flanker as the source of all evil descending upon him recently, I think I have a right to respond to his accusation and cl...

Re: BRU winter 2012-2013: latest news, routes, airlines

Didn't UA operate a 764 last winter too? I think they just send the 772 for the busier summer season, but indeed, capacity cuts from competitors always make life easier somewhat.
Will be interesting to see if they upgrade again to 772 next year....

Re: The contribution of air transport to the Belgian economy

What I know is that : - Charleroi airport, thanks to the traffic mainly brought by Ryanair, give a job and a salary to a few thousend people who, otherwise, would get paid by the Onem, Forem or even the CPAS of Charleroi. - Charleroi airport send Belgian abroad, but attract also Dutch, French, even...

Re: The contribution of air transport to the Belgian economy

Oh and by the way, how do CRL and FR contribute to the Belgian economy? I'll give you one point of view that the NBNNMBC won't give you: it saves Belgian households (...) hundreds of millions in holiday and travel budgets, thereby increasing purchase power. Which they subsequently spend abroad: gre...

Re: The contribution of air transport to the Belgian economy

Aren't you by definition denouncing the Ryanair working method? FWIW, weren't you the one that repeatedly claimed having low cost carriers operate at our airports was greatly beneficial to our economy? Away with all the rest, seemed to be your mantra, if i recall it... The facts and figures from th...

Re: The contribution of air transport to the Belgian economy

Tell me now, who built and is partly owner of BRU? So an equity investment in ownership is a subsidy according to you? What about SN? Is brussels airlines and airport operator? FWIW, the contribution of the operators at Belgian airports (i.e the airlines) is dealt with in a seperate chapter o...

Re: The contribution of air transport to the Belgian economy

I've read about this too in 'De Tijd'. What I find shocking is the terribly low added value all the flights at CRL bring to the Belgian economy: just 5%. You haven't mentioned it in your text, sn26567, but the National Bank estimates Belgian airports alone represent 1,99BN of the total of 6,20BN of ...

Re: Jet Airways cancels BRU-JFK from September 2012!

Mmm, not so sure, it still says New York - Newark. And according to their own network, this is how they describe New York as JFK and Newark as EWR... http://www.jetairways.com/EN/BE/AboutUs/OurNetwork.aspx Yes indeed, but they do have only one single line to it; if they would indeed be meaning the ...

Re: Jet Airways cancels BRU-JFK from September 2012!

Interesting... I guess that pretty much confirms it then, now it is only waiting for the official confirmation. Wonder why they play the game with first closing all and then re-opening some booking classes in the run up to the wind down of the route? To keep selling tickets and roll over the JFK pax...

Re: Jet Airways cancels BRU-JFK from September 2012!

Since I find it very weird to first learn the BRU-JFK route is closed for booking and then re-opened again soon after, I've been doing some research: Jet Airways has already built itself a trackrecord of first closing bookings for a route by total surprise, only to temporarily re-open them thereafte...

Re: Jet Airways cancels BRU-JFK from September 2012!

Is here actually any formal confirmation, or did this source simply came to the conclusion after seeing booking classed at zero? Could just as well have been a technical problem at Jet Airways too, you know? Interesting to follow for sure. Just for my information: how reliable is airline route as a ...

Re: brussels airlines to New York!

Waiting times at passport control vary a lot from terminal to terminal. Terminal 1 is a nightmare in the early afternoon. ALL terminals with lots of international arrivals have long waiting times during peak hours in the USA, and since JFK is the main gateway to the US on its eastern coast, it is m...

Re: Jet Airways cancels BRU-JFK from September 2012!

Well, didn't B.air say that by entering the BRU-JFK market, they were aiming at pushing out at least one other airlines? This sure didn't take long! I admit I had expected the first victim to be American, but then Jet Airways has the comfort of being able to consolidate its New York offering in thei...

Re: Skyways Express and City Airline to file for bankruptcy

Weren't they supposed to come to Brussels (from Jönköping or something) some time ago? I have flown City Airline twice from GOT, and they were a nice little airline, but I suppose flying Embraer jets in today's economical environment with highly expensive fuel isn't sustainable. Makes you wonder how...

Thank you.

Any idea about how many gates they gain? Is it more than one?

Guess I'll be using the new bus departure lounges soon: I have a flight to BRS coming soon.
