Re: Brussels Airlines in 2019
Flew WAW-BRU with SN yesterday morning. First time I was on that 06:45 flight (due to misconnection the evening before, not unusual with LOT). Was a full boat but for 4 seats. After boarding, Capt Speaking announced a 30-minute delay due to restrictions at EBBR (07L arrivals) which triggered the ne...

Re: Lufthansa in 2019
I don't really see how the A321XLR will become a game changer either. but we will see how things turn out. I loath the idea of a transatlantic flight on an a321 ( just like I loathed the idea of a 757-200 ) I can see SN using one for an evening flight to NY tough. FYI: the 757-200 didnt drastically...

Re: Lufthansa in 2019
Lufthansa will look at ordering the A321XLR, says chief executive Carsten Spohr, but added that he did not think the new model was a game changer. Can Spohr be wrong on this one too? Oh, he will never openly admit a mistake, despite the recent slap he got in his face... It remains to be seen... SN ...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2019
Sobelair was the last one using a 767-300er till 2003, but that was really unprofitable because of the fact the 767 couldnt be fully loaded. ( I remember this very well, the last few rows were empty because of this ) The range is there, but JNB is a 'hot and high' airport. ( this is the reason why ...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2019
JNB or CPT is a little overly optimistic. Wasn't there a BRU-JNB service some 5 or 10 years ago? With a certain degree of success, even? I vaguely remember Sobelair, A340, ..? Though that seems an unlikely combination. Sobelair was the last one using a 767-300er till 2003, but that was really unpro...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2019
On the other hand, SN never was a true stand alone cartier within the LH group. For years, LH only held a minority stake and, accept for a survival loan, didn't interfere much in SN's business. When SN became fully owned, it immediately got placed under EW-umbrella. It remains to be seen how CF and...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2019
If LH/CS/CF say that SN still has many efforts to make, it would make sense that some of the efforts be made not only by SN (employees ?), but that LH as owner of SN takes part in theses efforts (young fleet, sorry for the broken record, Poiu ;) ) Well, I have been beating the wrong (EW) drum quite...

E40/R22/R0 are meant to be dealt with with the upcoming works on the Ring. More info: https://www.werkenaandering.be/nl/homepage However, the Zaventem Interchange between the A201 and the R0 is a huge problem, haven't seen much plans for that. The idiocy for this is: you go from the most left lane t...

Only airliners? Nah. I am going on Friday. Will see what real cool things are to be developped, like the electrical wing of the A320 neo, and the new spoilers for the A350, spoiler: (see what I did there?) It might be a Belgian company producing those. Will also be visiting Thales, Rolls Royce, Hon...

Re: Question on Airplane Boarding
On Emirates, a zone is mentioned on the boarding pass. Boarding calls are made using the different zones (passengers seating in the back of the plane board first). This seems to be working quite well, I'm surprised that this is not standard procedure with other carriers... Duke Because it generally...

Re: Question on Airplane Boarding
Airlines have tried everything, and there is no way to speed up the boarding process. Perhaps it works in Japan, where people are very disciplined, but it fails elsewhere. Hmmm ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E7kor5nHtZQ I have seen this. It's amazing how many Japanese can fit per square meter.

Re: Question on Airplane Boarding
I have handicapped fam members, so we usually get on first. After that, though, and people who have priority boarding, wouldn't it make more sense to have the back of the plane board first, so it'd be easier for people to put their stuff away? I feel like people get stuck waiting for others in fron...

2 other things to address at BRU: 1: faster immigration 2: faster luggage retrieval I was in Tokyo Haneda the other day and OWH MY GOD! Re: Brussels Airlines in 2019
Everything LH has done so far hints at a no hub function for BRU and degrading it to just a destination, having EW planes flying customers to one of the group's hubs (FRA, MUC, ZRH and VIE). Not exactly: the flights to LH Group hubs are carried out by the network airlines, LH to FRA and MUC, LX to ...
