Re: Aviation and the Ebola epidemic in West-Africa
The two-year old girl had travelled with her grand mother by bus from Kissidougou, Southern Guinea, to Kayes, Mali, via Bamako. A 1100+km trip. She was symptomatic while travelling, with fever and nose bleeding. Quoting Reuters : Mali, together with cocoa producer Ivory Coast, has put in place borde...

Re: Aviation and the Ebola epidemic in West-Africa
Gentlemen, I appreciate your in-depth analysis and search for solutions but let’s not be over-optimistic and superficial here. What about the crews? They should be put in quarantine as well, no? Of course it may create a rostering problem if a crew cannot perform more than one rotation every 3 weeks...

No, we are not animals, we are human beings and we excercise common sense - although some don't. Dear Airazur, You realize I quoted someone, do you? ;) My claim is : On slippery r...

On slippery roads when one loses control of his vehicle, instinct is what leads most drivers to hit the brakes.
The worst thing to do of course, as we all know.

Re: Aviation and the Ebola epidemic in West-Africa
I just wonder what would have been the temperature of Thomas Duncan on arrival at BRU? This was September 20, five days before he felt unwell and the hospital released him as they did not find Ebola symptoms, although he had then informed them. OK to reassure the public and avoid developing a phobia...

Re: Aviation and the Ebola epidemic in West-Africa
Just face it, there is nothing you can do to eradicate a virus. In the case of Ebola, the reservoir seems to be bats that live with the virus without being affected themselves. So the virus is there to stay. All you can do is to contain it at the reservoir level by stopping its dissemination to and ...

You're right Stij. I remember I used to take the tram 58 to Vilvoorde when I was working there, err... a few years back. Cancelled and tracks removed by political will. Could it be that I will see Flemish trams on Brussels tracks in my lifetime? Or shall they organize this the same way the trains us...

E5? Tougher is which stand? 210? What do you think? Stand 230R :) Think you're right Kapitein. For sure I was wrong as it would not be possible see three lighting poles from 210 from that angle. Also the clearer pavement below the wingtip fence is where the IRDL used to be, now replaced by 210 and ...

E5? I'd say landing on RWY 25L indeed seeing the B Pier in the background (pic with spoilers deployed). Then vacating via Charlie 4, crossing RWY 01 with the last pair of touchdown zone markings visible as well as the last row of 4 TDZ lights, straight onto Echo 3. Then Inner 9 and 8, Sierra and pa...

Due to the composite structure the 787 is sensitive to lighting strikes. I also believe the aircraft was connected to a GPU at the time of strike and it damaged quite a lot of electric components. Spot on Sean. An airline flying the Dreamliner issued a few days ago a Ramp Service Advisory that call...
