Re: Elderly man dragged off overbooked United Express flight
Passanger was asked to vacate his seat for commercial/operational reasons, not for safety reasons. This is a crucial element. That you have to obey the flight crew doesn't mean they have the right to demand you to do whatever they want.

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2017
I agree completely with flywithUs: large shares of PAX from the catchment area of BRU are not going to follow to FRA. If Stij's scenario were to become reality, people could go straight to CDG/AMS for connecting and long haul flights rather than connecting in FRA. Timewise this would be a zero-sum g...

Re: Brussels region noise regulation
That's a gross misrepresentation of the Brussels political reality imho. Both language groups have indeed 2 ministers in the Brussels government (but 2 NL versus 3 FR deputy ministers). However the Brussels parliament does not have a 50/50 distribution at all; only 17 out of 89 (19%) MPs are Flemish...

How do you want this discussion not to be political? Aviation is politics. Airports are created and disappear mostly due to political decision taking, not Darwinian selection.

Re: Brussels region noise regulation
Didier Gosuin is a member of défi (the ex-FDF), and the airport is on the territory of Flanders. This is simple economical sabotage and harassment, fueled by his anti-Flemish sentiments. It's a pity that people like Gosuin can't be put on a passenger black list ... This interview is striking (quest...

The newest addition, an A332 from Edelweiss Air (future OO-SFT) is not that young either; over 17 years. http://www.airfleets.net/ficheapp/plane-a330-291.htmYuqu12 wrote:But the recentmy added A330 are already remarkable younger than those which will be replaced...

Re: "Eurowings Europe" on track to start in March 2016
Obviously a mistake in their database. E2 was the IATA code of Eagle Atlantic Airlines while it was operational, but this code is nowadays used by Eurowings Europe.

Re: Reopening Brussels Airport after the 22/03/2016 terror attacks
I agree with Sean that it would be ridiculous to launch such a campaign if the time needed to enter the airport premises and park at peak moments can not reduced significantly. People would still be keen to come 2-3 hours in advance because as the situation is now, it's impossible to estimate when y...

They are not planning on adding any new type to their fleet (for now). The Avros will be replaced by A320 series and wet leases.

Re: BRU Summer 2017: news, new routes, airlines
Very weird indeed; their flights seemed very successful although I have been avoiding them for the past two years due to the schedule and the mess of Malpensa Terminal 2 in the morning.

Re: Lufthansa buys the remaining 55% of Brussels Airlines
I think that's a gross exaggeration. In Milan for instance, it is the most visible airline brand, surpassing even Alitalia. The logo is on many of the shuttle buses between Malpensa and the central station and it used to be on every single tray at the Malpensa security check.

Re: Zurich to Honolulu non-stop by Edelweiss A340?
I think a A343 can make it to HNL without a problem, but also without cargo and so it will be more difficult to make it profitable... The article is ambiguous about what the problem actually is: would it not profitable or even not possible with an average load? Wild thought: in theory they could ma...

Re: Zurich to Honolulu non-stop by Edelweiss A340?
I wonder why an airline like Swiss would plan flying a route that is supposedly not possible with an A343. South African Airways used to fly JNB-JFK (12.800 km) with an A343. Is extra range required to make it over the North Pole or what are these calculations based upon?

Re: Reopening Brussels Airport after the 22/03/2016 terror attacks
Try to drive up a couple of floors... there you have all the space and all the time... If I knew how to make my car jump over other cars (without hitting the ceiling ;) ), I'd definitely do that. This exactly my complaint: the other cars didn't move forward, they just stopped at what they thought w...

Re: Reopening Brussels Airport after the 22/03/2016 terror attacks
Yesterday I had to drop someone off and parked shortly at P1. There was a long queue inside the parking lot because people were using the passageways as "kiss and ride". It's preposterous that the "kiss and ride" zone in front of the terminal had to go because of those petty crim...
