Re: Brussels Airlines in 2018
At VRT De Redactie: https://www.vrt.be/vrtnws/nl/2018/02/07/-brussels-airlines-zal--belgian-touch--behouden-/ - Brussels Airlines will perform the longhaul flighs of EW, rapid expansion of DUS - Less night stops (for which a compensation will be found) - No "Germanisation" of Brussels Airl...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2018
So, basically it means that Brussels Airlines will get eventually a bunch of long haul planes on the Belgian register and the Belgian AOC but all painted in the EW colours. This way they can eliminate all other external leases and use the EW AOC for a short haul fleet. But I still haven't read anyth...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2018
What about Eurowings and CARGO ? at first sight I didn't find any trace of Cargo-operations on the Eurowings website... Are all the EW-flights open for carrying cargo ? And is the belly space marketed by LH maybe? If I remember well SN is getting an important part of its revenue from Freight,especi...

Re: B737 MAX vv. A321neoLR
You can't compare both, the 737-7MAX is only capable of transporting about 138 pax (on average) while the A321LR can transport about 206 and even fly further. (average 2 class seating). The only plane that can do it (or could be useful) is the A321LR. Will they use it? I doubt it unless UA buys them...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2018
On the other hand, the whole thing is quite weird. It's like they adopted Gustin's vision for the future but that they went ahead with the terminations to save face. The fact that both "support" the transition suggests that they probably got a huge bonus to go away without making to much f...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2018
It’s called shushing the unions ;) Quite possible indeed :-) But even if it's a stay of execution (let's say for another year or maybe 2), then it gives Brussels Airlines the time to prove that they can operate profitably and can continue to grow. And who knows, maybe Spohr will vanish into thin ai...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2018
The fact they fired Gustin & De Raeymaecker?
Anyway, it's a very weird turnaround in one single day... Did someone had something to blackmail Lufthansa?

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2018
Based on preliminary breaking news messages it seems that Gustin & De Raeymaecker were fired and that's it (for now). Brussels Airlines' strategy needs to be reviewed. Like I thought, just the basics due to the big attention the past couple of days... A stay of execution for Brussels Airlines if...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2018
I know that the Board is there to take strategic decisions. But I don't know if it's wise for a Board to vote 5-4 about extremely important issues. This should be done with almost unanimity. Will the Belgian board members accept such 5-4 vote? Or will they, in a last attempt to save Brussels Airlin...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2018
According to someone on Airliners.net (I know, not the most reliable source) there are talks going to keep all planes on the ground "to make Lufthansa listen". Anyway, if they decide to strike, is it really the first strike in the history of Brussels Airlines? Somehow it's hard to believe ...

Re: VLM Airlines news 2018
Did the Chinese owners not see that before investing? So the airline that got their AOC might be in trouble while the other airline that's ready to fly still doesn't have their AOC and is burning cash... yikes! Well there could be solution though, if Air Belgium takes over VLM then they'll have 3 A...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2018
According to HLN Etienne Davignon is complicit in the plans of Carsten Spohr, back in November when Gustin tried to defend their business model and was cut of rudely by Spohr he could have (at least temporary) stopped the whole deal since decisions had to be unanimous and the Belgians still had veto...
