Re: Brussels region noise regulation
As well as Brussels REgio has the right to fine all aircraft overflying his terriroty (the dB limit is really soft, by the way). But is this a solution ? I hope all airlines refuse to pay the fines (like they did in the past). Just imagine you are driving along a road which has a sign with a speed ...

Re: Thomas Cook Airlines Belgium in 2017
Also about Carpatair, why would TUI take Thomas Cook Airlines if Carpatair was cheaper. Aviation is business, not charity. Actually, when I was still with TUI (some years ago :) ) there was some kind of agreement. If I remember well, the checklist when needing a subcharter in JAF was to look for ai...

The VOR approach on 07L is only allowed during daylight hours, that's why they use 07R at night

Re: Jetairfly in 2016
I wish Jetairfly good luck but i don't think it will be very comfortable with a boeing 737-800! That's probably about 7 hours flying time? (From LIS it's about 4 hours to SID...) No thanks! :o Actually, BRU-SID or BRU-BJL is only about 10 minutes difference, flying wise. What makes it long is ofcou...

Re: Belgocontrol ATC strike from 12 April 2016
No way you will win the support of public opinion. No way you can explain to the people of Belgium, of who many have lost a job the past years, that you earn €12000 per month, and you demand to retire at 85% of that at age 55... How narrowminded must one be to think the people of Belgium will under...

Re: Belgocontrol ATC strike from 22 April 2016
Wow, a lot of emotional and even disrespectful replies. Fire them all, revoke their licences... Maybe everybody should calm down a little... Don't work if your unfit is not the same as being sick. Unfit means being in a state not suitable for doing your job safely (for example fatigue, emoti...

Re: Reopening Brussels Airport after the 22/03/2016 terror attacks
If the pre-check continues to run so smooth as it currently does, there hardly is any need to come earlier to the airport. 2 days ago I had to be at the airport (through the pre-check), in stead of driving 35 minutes to work, it took me 1 hour. very smooth... :? And this is for an airport running a...

Re: Brussels airlines future and financial perspective
And what would that mean for Ryanair? 1 or 2 flights? I mean, I am perfectly objective about this and I don't dislike Ryanair (to the contrary) but I too think SN should be given priority since they only have BRU as a base and have to disperse flights to all over Belgium and even abroad while FR an...

Re: Jetairfly in 2015
I should have been more clear, I meant it's not convenient for JAF indeed. Like you say, they are not doing it for the fun of it.
I heard today that other airlines are cancelling flights out of BRU during the works.

Re: Jetairfly in 2015
Jetairfly confirmed to me that the LGG departures and arrivals are due to the runway works in Brussels. There will be some 10 such departures during the summer. The passengers involved are transported by coach to/from Brussels Airport. Convenient for Jetairfly, much less convenient for the passenge...

Re: Jetairfly in 2015
Just thinking out loud here, but could it have something to do with the runway works in BRU? Other operators don't seem to be rescheduling flights because of it, but it's the only (operational) obvious reason I can think of off the top of my head. That is indeed the reason, number of movements is r...

Re: Diversion of a Transavia flight because of stormy weather
Having flown that day I can say weather was pretty nasty in our regions :) I also talked to one of my colleaugues that did a landing in RTM that day. The word that came out was: "marginal, very very marginal". The crosswind component during their landing was +- 29kts (gusts included 41kts)...

Re: Three Ryanair "emergency" landings in Valencia on same day
Fair translation: “...that leads to the conclusion that Ryanair -although not exceeding the minimum requirements- adds several extra conditions, that Ryanair doens’t leave the quantity to the pilot’s discretion, and that Ryanair puts pressure on the pilots to add as little extra fuel as possible. T...

Re: Three Ryanair "emergency" landings in Valencia on same day
I'm new to the forum here, but I have been following the threads here for some years now. Some good reading. some of my points of view: - RYR's fuel policy is probably the same as most other EASA operators and is safe. I don't read anything in the verdict that says it isn't safe. - the verdict talks...
