Re: Airlines suspending Erbil

So far ME flights seem unaffected, next departure to Erbil in 90 mins.

Also, there are multiple daily flights in and out of Beirut to and from Erbil, Al Najaf, Basra and Baghdad.

Re: Busiest month ever at Brussels Airport : 2.3 million pax

Amazing that it took so long to return to a peak Sabena era level. The recent increase in low frills airlines operating from BRU certainly has a big share in reaching this milestone now rather than by 2020. Also it's good news to see that the average pax per movement has increased. Way to go Brussel...

Re: Airbus A330 news

I have the same impression: A350 was a NEO A330 and was rejected by gurus and some airlines, others were willing to buy. A350 became XWB (whole new design going head to head with 777 and putting last nails in coffin of A340). Now A330 NEO is back by popular demand I asume. Some airlines will have lo...

Re: SN to operate dedicated Red Devils flight to Sao Paulo

I didn't realize OO-SFO is an old A330-300, probably explains the fuel stop in DKR. Two hops are cheaper than a longer one if you only take fuel into consideration. Wonder if this'll give SN ideas for the future :-)

Or is SN filling the back of the plane with pax for DKR?

Come on Belgian Red Devils!

Re: 4 MAY 2014 : Magma 747 incident in BRU

I reside near the airport and I heard and wondered about this louder than usual flight around midnight. I can believe there was something unusual, maybe not problematic. I do wonder about the curfew hours. People put the blame on Belgocontrol but who said it's not the pilot himself who took the unwi...

I feared the worse when I read new livery for KLM. Would they go mostly white???

This slight review introducing some waviness is no more than needed, good call by KLM!

Re: Malaysia Airlines says it has lost contact with flight M

Out of my head, if one follows the theory of a (self) hijack, could it be they went to fly higher wearing masks in order to suffocate and kill all passengers on board? Would it have that effect to fly at 13Km+? Would the oxygen masks deploy automatically or is that controlled from the cockpit? How l...

Re: Brussels Airlines opens the door of Congo

Sabena in her time and nowadays Brussels Airlines have been living off Africa with comparatively much higher fares than on other more competitive and developed markets. One may not find this very ethical. Now that Africa is finally rising out of its economical misery, competition is appearing and th...

Hi b720, as I said I'll see how they respond. It's good you could give this positive contribution to shed light on such a delicate topic and add some perspective to it.

MEA denies boarding and humiliates wheelchair passenger

In the news this morning: http://www.lorientlejour.com/article/854886/empechee-de-voyager-et-humiliee-parce-quelle-est-clouee-sur-une-chaise-roulante.html I've switched my avatar to SN's logo as I cannot condone such behavior. I'll envisage switching my business as well if they don't act responsibly.

Re: Why doesn't SN fly to Asia?

As mentioned the Africa business case isn't that rosy for the future. As Africa develops so will competition, as is already the case, pressure will come on the price and SN's small volume operation won't be able to keep up the fight. To me SN should focus on the niche operation that is BRU and forge...

Re: Brussels Airlines' second US destination

We're way off topic here and maybe this would warrant a topic of its own. I have to agree with what is said above. It's suicidal to forget about the amount of China-Africa and to a lesser extent India-Africa traffic flows. However, I can see many reasons for SN not to go down that path: 1. SN partly...

Re: A380 BRU to NYC?

I honestly wouldn't see the rationale behind running an A380 between BRU and NYC point to point. I could understand eg SQ to route SIN-BRU-NYC iso SIN-FRA-NYC or a Gulf A380 operator if that can ever make sense for any of them. No one on the NYC side would run the route and as far as the BRU side is...

Re: Looking back @ 2013

2013 has been made of mostly the usual stuff as far as I'm concerned. BEY-FCO-BRU in C with AZ to start the year, AZ will always be AZ. BRU-BEY vv. with ME in Y in the Summer and Christmas, obviously the best option on the route since nonstop. A small European hop to BCN with SN in October, worth ev...

Re: Belgian Defence to replace its A330 by an A321

What this country really needs is an ACJ or BBJ, or an agreement with SN to provide suitable lift when required. Financing a purchase over several years won't cost that much and it will add worth in the books. An agreement will of course need to go via tender these days and that can be the main stic...
