Re: Brussels Airlines in 2019
I second that! SN's network in Africa is no leader by far. If is it indeed the intention of the LH group to occupy Africa using SN, the clock has been ticking for quite a while! They need to add more destinations and they need to add the minimum Intercontinental feed that makes sense at BRU as well....

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2019
I like the name Brussels Airlines but I'm not feeling so attached to it. However I love their Belgian touch and I would hate to loose that and for them to be a carrier like any other. I find this differentiation important. I'm not saying I'm ready to pay much of a premium for it though. So if Eurowi...

Re: Air Belgium in 2019
Checked out their website this morning. Only HKG in the destinations list, what happened to the others? Will they open reservations a few days before or are they concentrating on ACMI flights?
The local leader SN is taking a pause in long-haul this year, could be the right time for KF to fly West.

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2019
In the news this morning, Brussels Airlines will most likely re-brand to Eurowings in Europe. Free source (in French): https://www.lecho.be/entreprises/aviation/brussels-airlines-bientot-rebaptisee-en-europe/10089698.html In a nutshell: re-brand in Europe, no new long-haul destinations in 2019, begg...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2018
I understand that the pilots and all SN staff are nervous about the plans of LH/EW since they are not in the know, this is the best way to lower staff motivation, which can be a strategy, not saying it is the case here. On the other hand we live in a market economy and SN is a privately owned busine...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2018
I like the Brussels Airlines service and I don't feel attached to the brand. Tomorrow if they were operating as Eurowings in Europe and Sabena in the world I'd be totally fine. Heck even if they were operating as Eurowings in the world I'd be fine but I don't think that's the plan because they want ...

Re: Air Belgium: a rebirth?
I think 31" is OK as long as the seats are not as hard as SN's. My last BRU-IAD and back was a bottom killer. These 10-11 y.o. A340-300X are probably good enough in terms of range and consumption at current oil prices; they were mostly phased out when the oil was more than double what it is now...

Re: A321LR will/should it change everything ?
MEA's A320 fleet features real 2 x 2 business seats and AVOD in every seat plus a decent pitch in economy.
I wouldn't find it problematic to fly that for 7-8h iso 4-5h if the service level is good.
Now a Ryanair A321LR with 240 seats, no thanks!

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2018
Makes sense to drop the pairing of FIH and start paring the other cities that used to be paired with FIH. Bummer is the drop in frequency which is still a really negative point for business travellers. Maybe they should fly BRU-DUS-FIH 3 days per week :-) Wonder about this news today of trying to lu...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2018
Une tempête dans un verre d'eau The new owner is simply taking the pilot seat and is letting the former pilot move away in a gracious way. They will now be able to deploy their strategy which certainly won't kill the local business but will certainly mean further integration as far as the European ...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2018
LH group now own 100% and are the boss. If the incumbent does not follow their guidelines or meet their targets there is no reason for him to stick around. If we didn't want the decisions to be made abroad we should have kept a controlling stake. If LH makes bad management decisions and Brussels-bas...

Re: Alitalia near bankruptcy. Can it be saved?
I'm happy they are given an extended lease of life just because I booked with them early in the year for year-end period and then there was a new saga of bankruptcy few weeks later. Ironically I had stayed away on several occasions due to the uncertainty surrounding the Alitalia case. Another lesson...

Re: Emirates A380 at BRU ?
Is there anything legal preventing them to operate a second daily flight? Doesn't Belgium have an open skies agreement with the UAE? I'm not saying they shouldn't bring the A380, but usually they grow frequency before growing capacity. Anyway it will take some time for the airport to be ready.

Re: Russia threatens to ban all Western airlines
Not sure Russia based carriers could live long if the same sanction was legitimately imposed back on them, not to mention the Russian government dealing for long with a population deprived of fruits and Turkish breaks.
