SN had several of its A330s in Malta non-stop from early January till end of March, either for cabin refurbishment or C-checks I think.

The tables refer to February. I assume it's a mistake. Nice performance of SN!

Re: AF versus SN in AFI

@ OO-ITR

I haven't but I believe you. If you read the rest of my post, I'm in fact wondering why SN can't lease additional a/c more rapidly as my understanding is that additional AFI flights would be profitable.

Re: AF versus SN in AFI

However, as Flanker has been pointing out, SN's expansion in AFI seems way too slow. And there is something I can't understand here: AFI has been said to be their bread and butter; in that case, these flights certainly cover, among other things, the lease costs of the aircraft. If the market is ther...

Is the plan to start replacing the older A333s in 2017 then?

SN 371 to Douala-Yaoundé was cancelled today; there seems to have been several AFI flights cancelled these last few days; technical problems?
And, btw, does anyone know when the well-needed latest acquisition A332 will join the SN fleet?

But isn't the twice daily to EDI going to be a Q400? Ithink I've read that somewhere. If that is the case, the pax who were becoming regular on this flight will really be disappointed.

And why not a code-shared BRU-FBM with SN and an SN 330? Does someone know what the new bilateral agreement provides for Congo-registered airlines?

Re: Brussels Airlines 2013: Loadfactor/Pax numbers/Cargo

It would, of course, be interesting to know how these figures split between Europe and Long-haul sectors. In other words, was the decreased offer in Europe suficient to limit the l/f decrease in that sector and, conversely, was the increased offer on Long-haul too high to keep/increase the l/f in th...

Airport taxes and fuel surcharges

When you have an "unrefundable" ticket and do not show for the flight, it's lost, the airline keeps the money. However, the price you paid included airport taxes and fuel surcharges that are far from negligeable nowadays and that, I assume, the airline will not have to bear. Shouldn't you ...

Re: New bilateral agreement Belgium- DR Congo

This is why SN should not concentrate too much on AFI. It's ( one of) the mistake(s) Sabena made in the seventies. It shoud also develop other easily reachable markets in N.A. (YUL, BOS, ORD,ATL...) and grab opportunities elsewhere (SAO,HKG,MUM...) asap. Let's hope LH will be agressive enough to giv...

Re: Brussels Airlines' second US destination

I tend to agree with that. It looks like the "sisters" LH, OS and LX will have more C class seats. Iberia's new A333 will also have more C seats.[Btw, it must be frustrating for the SN people to learn that Iberia will receive 8 brand new A333 between now and March next year!]

Re: Brussels Airlines' second US destination

@ RoMax I fully agree with you. But my point was that the SN press release wrongly states that the new IAD flight offers good connections to/from AFI: only to Abidjan, Cotonou and Lome and none for the arriving AFI flights. I had even forgotten to mention the East Africa flights that also depart bef...
