BRU should encourage JL to come with their new LCC subsidiary and to 5th freedom to GRU.
This should work very well.

Re: VLM (SHS Antwerp Aviation) news 2018
Vizion Air, why don't you guys take over what's left? You guys know what you're doing, plus you have an active Part145, Part M, a quality department in VLM. Take it over for peanuts, keep it lean and small, use it for you own charters and expand the charter business organically. we will first see h...

Re: Air Belgium in 2018
The loading factors are pretty good compared to July when I first took AB to HKG. When i departed there were only 50 pax or less whilst when I returned there were more than 100. According to Standaard. The loading factors have gone up from 52-60% (july) to 75-80%(august). So I thing they are gettin...

Re: VLM (SHS Antwerp Aviation) news 2018
It's back to reality I guess. I was surprised that they launched all these routes, but now we see that it was just madness. Good to see the cutback and trying to become sustainable. LCY and ZRH make sense. If Vizion Air is giving them enough lucrative work, it makes sense to pursue that. ANR could i...

Re: Air Belgium in 2018
Frankly I was never able to find any 449 EUR rates that I could fly. How are load factors? I doubt that they're doing well. They need to be more aggressive on pricing. As I always said, yield management can only make a difference once you are constantly full. Until then, you are not doing yield mana...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2018
SN no longer is a government-supported airline. The unions at SN were very pro-government. Work conditions are pretty poor, SN pays the worst wages of the industry and get away with it without strikes. Only when senior pilots were unhappy the unions moved. If these were independent unions, SN would ...

Re: Air Belgium in 2018
Ok finally some marketing. 1800 EUR return in J is not very cheap. The same way 449 EUR is not very cheap. Price at 349 EUR and 1299 EUR respectively as launch fares and there will be takers. I will find a reason to fly to Hong Kong for that. Once you are established you can jack up the fares. I wou...

Re: Air Belgium in 2018
No surprise for me: If they want a good load factor and a decent yield, they have to leave more time then just a few weeks before they operate their first revenue flight to Hong Kong. They must respect the time lapse between booking date and flight date. Best scenario to limit the damage now is to ...

Re: Air Belgium in 2018
Its amazing to me that they've found 500 paying volunteers for these flights. It shows that Belgium has a passion for aviation. Well done.
I look forward to reading the TR's in the appropriate forum.

Re: Air Belgium in 2018
How free is free though? You still need to pay taxes and BRU isn't cheap. I agree that operational issues are understandable for charters. A 2-hour delay is acceptable especially for long haul holiday destinations. I hoped for them to launch as a true disruptor and on routes like TYO but at these fa...

Re: Air Belgium in 2018
It never ceases to amaze me how "managers" hope to run yield management from day 1 on routes without feeding and with heavy competition, only to price themselves out of the market. So much for being a "disruptor". Scarce return tickets at 450 EUR return, but mostly at over 500 E...

Re: Air Belgium in 2018
If the Chinese have almost 50% of the shares, it seems logical to me that the major part of the seats will already be filled with Chinese tourists who booked with this Chinese tour-operator. I don't expect there to be a stampede of willing business class passengers for these flights. If you configu...

Re: Air Belgium in 2018
About the flag, get over it, it looks great. About the routes and time frame, I have doubts that they can launch that soon without a major negative impact. As said earlier by others, regardless of the sales potential and the demand from a tour operator, they can t switch bookings overnight. Sure, op...

Re: Air Belgium in 2018
I think that the choice was neither smart nor bad. AOG costs money either way. What is smart about it? CRL gives them access to Ryanair feed, with a huge network out of CRL, if they can come to a good agreement that is. However, that feed isn't easy, because Ryanair's way of scheduling flights is ad...

Re: Air Belgium in 2018
Thats a lot of money... but I guess it means ANA must be doing well on the route since they're not trying to sell cheap tickets... I looked up early July BRU-NRT-BRU and you can go Qatar for 760-780 Euros and Aeroflot for 630 on some dates... But if you do some research I'm sure you can find cheape...

Re: Air Belgium in 2018
I hope for Air Belgium's sake that they have the presence of mind to launch a route to Tokyo (if possible HND) besides Hong Kong. If they have to enter in direct competition with an Asian airline, I think that this route is the most likely to be sustainable as point-to-point in the short term. Over ...

Re: Air Belgium: a rebirth?
Air Belgium should also organise their own bus services to the center of Brussels. The bus services offered by CRL are not professional (don't leave according to schedule), not adequate for a widebody load of passengers and most pax want to be in the center and not at Midi station. CRL is not offer...
