Re: BRU Summer 2024: news, new routes, airlines

What's so logical about it? I don't think Saudi Arabia is a popular destination for belgian tourists... For now Saudi Arabia is not a touristic destination anywhere in the world (besides gcc), that s why they want to open up... To become a touristic destination. Check the Saudi 2030 vision. ...

Re: BRU Summer 2024: news, new routes, airlines

Well, they are trying to do the same as Dubai and Qatar. Attract tourists and be a hub to fly further into Asia. The government tries to diversify their oil-based economy, so they look at their neighbors and take over what they think is good. I would also like to see more Asian destinations instead ...

Re: BRU Summer 2024: news, new routes, airlines

Saudi Arabia is investing enormously in tourism the next years, wants to become a big player in the holiday business, so seems logical that they would look at BRU as possible destination.. gtz What's so logical about it? Re: Air Belgium in 2023

During the state visit to South Africa, Air Belgium announced new routes this fall to US and 'an' Asian country. Not clear whether this will be from CRL or BRU. Nicky Terzakis also said new money will be needed to get more planes and expand the network. At the moment, most of the revenue is because ...

According to flightlevel.be, the Toronto-flight from Air Canada will only last 3 months, from Aug to Oct, to be canceled during winter season.
I think SN should have kept on flying it.

This makes SVQ a new destination on BRU's network.
SN served it for a while, it's a shame they don't offer it anymore since a few years.

Re: BRU Summer 2023: news, new routes, airlines

I agree that Ryanair failed in BRU . MOL's plan back in 2014 was to grow in BRU, while killing SN. Both objectives failed. Not only that, but he's the one withdrawing. This is obviously a fail. One can't deny that. Luckily for him and his company, they are big enough to put their (few former Brussel...

- Juneyao, Shanghai
- Philippines Airlines, Manila
- Air Belgium, Bangkok
Royal Jordanian just announced that they'll open a route to Dusseldorf.
Guess there won't be any to BRU?

Re: Brussels Airport (BRU) infrastructure: future

I always take the train to BRU. It's practical and easy. Not stuck in traffic, high frequency, easy access. These advantages can't be denied. Especially if you live in a city. But that diabolo makes it unnecessarily expensive. BRU's CEO said that the lack of custom agents makes intercontinental airl...

Re: BRU Summer 2023: news, new routes, airlines

SN loses some competition to Lisbon, Milan and Alicante. Good news for them I suppose.
They should take over Amman (if Royal jordanian) doesn't open the route.

I remember the day Ryanair arrived at BRU, claiming that they would slay SN into bankruptcy.
Guess MOL was wrong about that...

Would be nice to see more of these destinations.
Also, now that Blue Air doesn't fly anymore, why doesn't SN open a route to Bucharest?
