Re: Sabena or not...

Strangely I had the same discussion yesterday with someone. The Sabena brand is still allive today, 7 years after the company went bankrupt. A lot of people are still talking about Sabena or SN when they talk about Bru.Air... Unfortunately the only thing that still reminds to SABENA is the IATA code...

Re: Brussels Airlines Joining Star Alliance

Although nearly all media (including Belgian's leading business newspaper "De Tijd") are speaking about an invitation to Star Alliance some sources are claiming that SN will request today to join Star. After this approval it should take 12 to 18 months before SN will effectivly be a Star A...

Negative,

They have always been configurated as a SAR heli and never left for a combat mission. Neither will the 4 new ordered NHI NH-90 NFH helicopters for the 40th squadron.

^ Are you sure of that? All I can read is "NCA Artemis", but definitely no 'Airlines'... It does indeed mention NCA Artemis, the name of the plane, so the plane is probably owned by Nippon Cargo Airlines ;) Check a plane of NCA: http://www.airliners.net/photo/Nippon-Cargo-Airlines/Boeing-...

Re: Pictures of first B747-400F for Cargo B

Who is de actual owner of this plane? I've searched the database at the Boeing website but no 747's are on order with Belgian cariers nor is Cargo B Airlines included in the customer list. However, I do find that NCA has several 747's (-400F and -8F) on order. Could this be one of the planes ordered...

Strange... OO-CBC isn't yet mentioned in the Belgian Aircraft register:

Registration: OO-CBC
Make / Model: MC DONNELL DOUGLAS DC-3 SR
Owner: SABENA N.V.
First Registration: 07/02/1946
Scraped: 09/03/1961

Re: 23/11: medical helicopter crashes near Bruges - all OK

The official press release concerning the incident: On november 23, 2008 the "MUG-Heli" received a call arround 15h53 (CET) for a urgent incident in the Sun Parks bungalowpark in Vlissegem. The heli was called as backup for the MUG team from Blankenberge who were allready on the scene. At ...

Re: 23/11: medical helicopter crashes near Bruges - all OK

Update:

OO-HSB has been completely damaged during the crash (heli turned over, tail broke off).

It seems that the rotor hit the ground and this resulted in the severe crash. The heli did make a emergency landing because of loss of power in it's engines.

Re: 23/11: medical helicopter crashes near Bruges - all OK

The heli involved in the crash is registered with OO-HSB. During an emergency landing the heli skid and crashed into a nearby hole. During the flight the heli seemed to lose some fuel or oil and the pilot decided to make an emergency landing in a field. It was during this landing that the heli crash...

Re: No more beer from Chez Léon on Brussels Airlines

Maybe because there was no demand to the Léon beer? It's not that famous since it's only available in the (to expensive and below average quality) Léon restaurants? Btw: famous Belgian mussels restaurant: only for tourists, there are thousands better places in Belgium to eat mussels that at Chez Leo...

Re: The future of Brussels Airlines with Lufthansa

The brand name is stronger than the original signification. But the brand name is tainted with "failed airline", "poor service". Sabena might have been great back in the 1980's guys, but we've moved on. Belgium should look the future and seek to build a new, successful brand. Al...
