Re: Aviation and the Ebola epidemic in West-Africa
No, it's not the professionals who are spreading the infection ... but joe public who has nothing to seek there at the moment. Nobody is talking about a complete quarantine, just about COMMERCIAL air travel But that's impossible poeple will move anyway ... And then without control it's worse the OM...

Re: Aviation and the Ebola epidemic in West-Africa
Moderators will remove posts (as they have already done previously in this thread) if airline bashing and irrational fears fuelling do not stop. See what's happening in the US already: the news there reports that 5 passengers with flu-like symptoms have disembarked in Boston from an Emirates flight...

Re: Aviation and the Ebola epidemic in West-Africa
The only thing I can say abouth this subject is that in the past when we use to live in Zaire in difficult times we where very happy that Sabena was Flying.
And there where no other doing so...
It's courageous to do so and I'm very proud to be Belgian.
People on the spot will not forget that .

Re: Car parking in Brussels airport (Zaventem)
Last week I arrived from FIH in the morning and told myself that I will take the train instead of the cab. Normally I never take the train because I don't wanna pay the tax for the tunnel I don't use. But ok this time I really wanna try and what happened, there was a problem in the south nort tunnel ...

Re: Subsidies to Belgian airlines
Either way, the EU will have to block the subsidies as it distorts competition directly. But in the meanwhile they can get it to balance part of their negative cash flow, which will give them a few additional months until the EU forces them to reimburse it. If they don't get this, how long can they...

Re: Will EK (Emirates) come to BRU?
What I don't understand is why SN does not move all the employees to Ireland!!!! To escape the taxes here, like Ryanair. Off topic- it would not make any difference! A new European law came into force in 2012, airlines and their employees pay social security in the country in which the employees are...

Re: Wathelet dispersion plan for Brussels Airport
When I bough my house they where no planes!?!?! 25 years ago noisy DC-10s and 747-100s, often at low altitude due to max TOW, were overflying your house at midnight almost every day! I'm not so old ;-) but since I live here there where no planes. And I said no TAKE OFF between 23:00 and 07:00. Sure...

Re: Wathelet dispersion plan for Brussels Airport
I think we have to make choses and yes an airport is important but a smaller one. With no night flights, we can bring those flights to other airports Ex: maybe Oostende or Liege,Cologne... Also a good idea will be to close the airport for take off from 23:00 to 07:00. A good idea? That's a disaster...

Re: Wathelet dispersion plan for Brussels Airport
God forbid, if one day BRU is regionalized, or if Belgium splits, you can expect no airplane from BRU is gonna fly over either wallonia or Brussels anymore. Then you'll be sure all the noise will be for the north. Is that what you want, both Flemish and Walloons? If an independent Brussels indeed w...

Re: Wathelet dispersion plan for Brussels Airport
So 4 posts ago you were complaining about the noise above your house and now you agree? I will tell you why you agree: because you think that independent ICAO representatives would route those airplanes over less dense populated (flemish) area anyway. But imagine that they take the more ecological ...

Re: Wathelet dispersion plan for Brussels Airport
Above, White Light showed how to deal with the problem in a objective way: 1. The is no "Wathelet Plan". At best you can speak of the "So-called Wathelet Plan", because Wathelet applied the decisions made by the Leterme governments in 2008 and 2010 when Etienne Schouppe was in c...

Could we PLEASE try to stick to the topic. topic is about the dispersion plan, not about the languages spoken at the Belgian airports. Re: Wathelet dispersion plan for Brussels Airport
Well, BRU is on flemish territory, I dont see the difference. The real problem is that the bilingual thing usually only comes from one group of people, the same group who has to endure all flights over their heads now by rule of the judge. I still have to meet the first walloon who orders his drink...
