Re: Boeing 737 (MAX) news

"Some pilots have said 15min of MCAS training is plenty, noting their familiarity with the 737 Max’s systems. Sources have also noted the complex logistics of running thousands of pilots through the few 737 Max simulators available" So a simple laptop training will do for the moment, “long...

And the EY-9W partnership now wrecked, it is now being replaced with EK/SG codesharing partnership. All good for EK opening further up the conveted dxb-india connectivity. https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/industry/transportation/airlines-/-aviation/spicejet-emirates-sign-mou-for-code-share-partn...

Norwegian considers to extend route from Perth to Singapore as well.
I will believe it when I see it.

Re: Norwegian in 2019

For Q1 : 115 million dollar net loss. Profit margin -18%. Debt to assets 70%. It's better than Q4 2018. Roughly twice better. And let me remind you that Q2 as well as Q3 were slightly profitable. -- Compare with a successful legacy like SAS: Q1: 50 million dollar net loss. Profit margin -5%. Debt to...

Re: Norwegian in 2019

And despite the many upheavals the airline had to face this last 12 months the airline is posting positive 1Q results, a great achievement given the many challenges and the boldness that characterises their strategy. Kudos Norwegian, you are on the right track :-) https://airwaysmag.com/airlines/nor...

Re: Jet Airways' financial situation, can they be saved ?

The state of the matter is well documented in the economictimes copy in attachment. It's real late in the day to try putting up a rescue plan, the liabilities are huge but who knows ? https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/industry/transportation/airlines-/-aviation/ousted-by-lenders-naresh-goyal-trie...

Jet Airways temporarily suspending their ops, is it definitive ?

9W are closer to bankruptcy than AZ. Probably imminent. However there is no discussion of 9W's financial turmoil on this site .. Surprising !

Re: Ethiopian Airlines Boeing 737 MAX crashes between Addis Ababa and Nairobi - Impact on Boeing 737 MAX

This is well explained here : 'Nowhere is it described the trim could be impossible to move if the Cut-Out switches were cut at the slightest miss-trim at the speeds flown. And there is no warning on when to move the Cut-Out switches, the checklist says “Cut, then trim manually.” This is not the who...

Well .. Aren't they working on a fix since some months now ? So 3 months to go ... However the solution concept hopefully meets the approval of EASA and FAA before getting developped ?

It seems to be a major setback for the A339 this order... And a big win for the B789 instead ! Maybe I was not entirely expecting this :-)

Indeed however the business model (of sn vs ew) is not the same (that was my point) and it's recognised as such.

Re: Lufthansa in 2019

Everybody knows that SN is now a part of Eurowings Group and not LH group. Sn part of EW ? There is a major difference between the two, SN is a hub airline and (to my knowledge) EW is not. EW business model is that of any LCC, as such designed to operate O/D flights. Whenever a hub function is requ...

An exemple ? In a restaurant you pay let's say 25 euro for a lunch dish at a given restaurant or you pay 20 euro for the same lunch dish at the same restaurant + dinner dish in another restaurant distant from the original one both meals included. The same day. Important to mention, you pay days in a...

Re: Lufthansa is trying to sue passengers for skiplagging

The real shame is that skiplagging cant be used for round trip. A no show on one flight shouldnt cancel the return flight. If its paid its paid. If you decide to do one leg on a donkey's back its your choice. :o  It's a real shame indeed. The airline should be sued for doing that, not the ...

Re: Lufthansa Is Trying To Sue Passengers For Skiplagging

If it's legal, there is obviously less point for airlines to offer discounted rates to tag-ons pax since p2p pax can enter that scheme also with a slight twist. In fact it's more than a "slight twist" since the luggage in the hold will be forwarded to the end destination as the ticket req...
