Re: Which A330 next for Brussels Airlines?
to replace the ageing A333s in 2017 with is another batch of A333s. Is the plan to start replacing the older A333s in 2017 then? Good question! The idea to take up A343's would be because of their availability I guess, not for range or capacity. If you look at the number of seats, the A343 doesn't ...

Re: Why no Emirates flight to BRU?
On a side note, EY was to increase frequency to 12x weekly. Has this been confirmed? Or have they changed their mind, and opted for a daily flight to AMS, in cooperation with KL (or AF/KL)? Last I checked on EY's website, there are still 8 flights a week between july and october (tried some random d...

Re: Young boy takes flight from BRU to Malaga without any pa
I agree, security is about checking nobody is carrying items into the terminal (airside) that are not allowed, dangerous etc. They do not check ID or boarding pass. Though a 12 year old boy on his own should raise some questions. Not that is not allowed, but just to make sure where the kid is headin...

Re: BRU Summer 2013 - Latest News: routes, airlines
First of all, sad to see SN cancel yet another destination. There has been some positive news on the long-haul side, with the start of JFK last year, and with IAD coming up next summer. However, the European network has taken some hits. Frequencies have been reduced on a lot of destinations (down to...

Re: After JFK and Washington, which new destination for SN n
I agree it would be nice to see SN fly to destinations like NRT, HKG, GRU, GIG, DEL, BOM. But personally I don't see this happening that soon. I guess their focus will remain on America and Africa first. And with only 1 plane per year, that will take some time. In North-America I'm expecting destina...

Re: Brussels Airlines' second US destination
Happy to hear of these developments! Wish SN the best of luck to make this work, and make yet another step to succes. Would be interesting to know how all members of the JV were thinking of this. SN going for another IAD flight in addition to UA, means SN and LH see a lot of potential there, or they...

Re: Brussels Airlines' second US destination
Requested slots: STD out of BRU: 1730LT STA in BRU: 1150LT If these will indeed be the flight times of SN to/from IAD, this means an additional flight, next to UA. This sounds a lot to me, but after all, they are in it together. So they should know the market and know what they are doing. Connectio...

Re: Brussels Airlines' second US destination
Well, sometime ago I read that NY and Washington are the 2 biggest destinations for traffic to Africa, due to the populations there. Therefore it would make sense for SN to operate these routes. The question is, is it better to strengthen your position in the most important markets (IAD, JFK), or be...

Re: Which A330 next for Brussels Airlines?
And why not the MH one, there may be dozens of reasons for that... You're right, I was too quick to reply. Engine type seems to be one of those reasons. Therefore I compiled a short list based on planespotters.net, showing SN has the following A330's: OO-SFM, SFN & SFO: A330-301 - GE engines, 1...

but the idea of building a regional European network at BRU when you have a huge hub like FRA just next door which can offer much more feeding opportunities and has much of that regional network already in place, seems not to fall in that category, expect maybe for some additional UK or French regi...

Re: SN's regional network
Interesting views on the matter, I hadn't looked at it this way. But indeed, LH Group is in charge, and they decide upon their overall strategy of operations based on how they can keep costs low and revenues as high as possible. There is nothing wrong with that, well in fact this is exactly what the...

Re: New long-haul revolutionary configuration at B.Airlines
If SFZ is ready and flying, that leaves SFY as the last A330 (332) for cabin refurbishment? So 6 out of 7 look splendid?
Just in time for their next 332 or 333 if they want to announce a new destination for next summer. Curious!

Re: Replacement of SN's Avro RJ and B737 fleet
In the past year it seemed the RJ100's would stay around for some more years. But now Gustin telling ATW that they are looking at options to replace the RJ100's as fast as possible and the 'rumours' they are looking at more A319/A320 + Q400 seems to indicate they want to get rid of these RJ100's fa...

Re: 15 top intercontinental destinations out of BRU
It's an interesting document for sure, but pretty useless in this particular topic, IMHO, because as OO-ITR noticed, from the list of top intercontinental destinations, all of them already have a connection: of course, otherwise they couldn't be in this kind of a list even! See what I mean? Pretty ...

Re: 15 top intercontinental destinations out of BRU
Not related to importance. I just started in North America, followed by South America, Africa, and Asia. You might indeed include IAD, but who's out? DXB is a candidate. I also don't see SN going there. In a sense it would be easier to do a top20. I already wrote down 19, perhaps only add TLV? If SN...

Re: 15 top intercontinental destinations out of BRU
Some years ago I came across a presentation on the internet. It was about about Brussels Airport, and their plan to connect Brussels to the "most important" cities of the world. I don't think I still have it, it was about more than 15 destinations. But it won't differ that much of course. ...
